I have never been this indecisive

So we decided to take a year or two off from WDW except for my wife's annual Princess Half-marathon girl's trip.
The thinking is there will be a lot of new stuff in a couple of years, with a redone DTD and some new stuff to enjoy at AK, DHS and Epcot too.
So I bought a camper and we have been enjoying it at several Georgia State Parks and we are headed to Pensacola for a stay at Fort Pickens Campground and to see the Blue Angels.
A business trip has come up for the end of September in Savannah. I am thinking about just pulling the camper to Savannah, won't be using it there, then on down to Fort Wilderness for the following week. After all, from Savannah, it is only about a five hour drive and we can be at WDW. Of course, it will take twice the gas, but we do like Fort Wilderness.
I just can't decide if this plan makes any sense. We would enjoy staying at Fort Wilderness, and we are liking the camper and the whole camping thing, but do we stick to the previous plan to take a couple of years not going back, or forget that plan and go camping at Disney?

If you have the money and the vacation days, go for it.
Yeah, real first world problem I have here. Previously, I would not hesitate. This time, I'm consideriding many options. Guess that sorta means we have gone too often and even though we do take other trips besides Disney each year, I think I am still gonna keep weighing the options for awhile. We are blessed to have options.

What's your wife's opinion, since she's also visiting for the race weekend? Twice a year would be too much for me, personally.

Her girl's trip and half-marathon is somewhat of a tradition for her group and she says it is different from our trips. I don't run unless somebody is chasing me with a stick. Though they do a couple of parks while there, it is more girls hanging at the pool, dressing up to go out, the HOB Gospel Bruch, and lots of outlet shopping, and then, more shopping, so it is less of a traditional WDW trip. She says for me to decide and she is happy either way. Guess that is another blessing!

Oh how I hate those non Disney years. Weve had times when there was a year gap in between trips. The upside was more time to save so the next trip would be more extravagant. Also when there were more changes made to the parks, it felt more like a different Disney when we did go. The down side was knowing there was no Disney at all that year and knowing friends and customers were going, then hearing all about what they did and knowing we missed out. That really hurt.
I think the pain of knowing you could be there with a minimal amount of effort is greater that the pain that comes from actually reasoning that you cant be there because of the expense or time conflicts. So I'd say go. You wont regret being there once you pull in and set the camper down.

Yeah, the idea of being only five hours away is what is making me think so hard about the camper scenario.

These decisions are always tough!! We usually go every November and had a trip planned for mid November this year but have decided to postpone it until the last week of April. I already had our dining booked and even got CG, which we had tried 3 years to get!!!!! It's eating me up that we won't be there during the holidays but I will say that I am super excited to be staying at the Poly with hopefully most of the construction completed and am excited to see what Disney Springs will look like and to see what might be new at "Hollywood Studios", if it will even still be called that when we get there!!!

Disney is Disney no matter when you go! Do what will make yall the happiest!!

Doubtful you would see much if anything. Decorating sites is not as popular for Halloween as Christmas, and certainly not a whole month in advance.
Good to know. I just hate halloween. We have been over to Fort Wilderness riding bicycles while staying at the Wilderness Lodge and enjoyed some of the Christmas decorations. I just did a Google search for the halloween decorations...would not enjoy that at all. Some of it looks really over the top.

I did not think about that. I hope not.

I really have no idea if or how much they would decorate for Halloween. You'd probably be there before that anyway. I've never toured the campground during that time so I'm just guessing. I have walked around to see the fantastic ways people decorate for Christmas. There are some festive displays then! I'd enjoy the Christmas displays more as well.
