Current Existing Park Icons to Be Built / Rethemed based on Frozen

Hey everyone,

I have a friend who is a cast member and he confirmed for me that within the next year each park will have an icon based on Frozen, either rethemed on built. You'll recognize some of these as they have already been discussed on this forum. They are as follows:
  • MK: Cinderella's Castle to be rethemed as Frozen Elsa's Castle: She and her Frozen friends lit the castle during the holidays which in effect kicked out Cinderella anyway. So, Disney is just going to rename it and leave the icicles up year-round and have a lighting show each evening.
  • Epcot: Spaceship Earth to be rethemed as Snowball Earth: This is to coincide with the re-working of Norway (to be renamed Arendale, by the way) for the new Anna/Elsa Meet and Greet and the new Frozen ride there. The ride inside will essentially be the same but the historical sequences will be more winter-based.
  • Animal Kingdom: The Tree of Life is a huge upside down oil rig so it isn't going anywhere. But what they will do is remove all the leaves from it and coat it with fake snow. Obviously, "It's a Bugs Life" will have to go to be replaced with a 3D movie based on reindeer like Sven and other wildlife that live up north.
  • HS: Okay, you've heard the rumors about why the BAH was taken down. I can confirm that, yes, a giant Olaf is being built in it's place. Disney never intended the Chinese Theatre to be the primary view. HS will be converted into a giant Winter Wonderland with a happy-go-lucky giant Olaf greeting you as you walk down Arendale Avenue (renamed from Hollywood Blvd). While certainly not official, I'm sure that viewers of this forum will nickname the "Big A** Olaf" or BAO for short.
That's what I know on this April 1, 2015.

That didn't take long, maybe two minutes before it was moved out of "News and Rumors". WDWMagic, where is your fun?

Yeah @wdwmagic Where's your fun?
Why don't you want to spend all of today sorting through tons of bogus news posts so that we don't spend the next month trying to correct people who "remember that there was something said about Disney doing <insert joke> and how they are evil and the worst people ever for deciding to remove <attraction> and replace it with <bad attraction>?

I hate April Fools as well. I have never seen the humor in humiliating people, but, I guess that's just me. That said, however, that particular post was obvious from the title that it was just a joke. That one I found funny.

It's not like I didn't reinforce the point saying that is what I know on this April 1.

Actually, it's amazing that the entire post wasn't replaced by these... ********* ***** ***** ******! It's the lack of the ability to observe April Fools Day that was the reason for the revolution. ;)

OK. I just don't see the point in making stuff up and posting it on a site where people come for reliable news and info.

Alright. As you said, "To each their own." I noticed other similar forums to yours on their own posted April Fools items. Duly noted for the future. You don't participate in April Fool's Day. And, yes, I get the other poster's point about your having to sort through all kinds of threads.

All kidding aside though, when you think about it there is probably more "made up" things on news and rumors then any other threads on this board. And all without the benefit of it being AFD. :joyfull:

Which was the point of my post, "I have a friend who is a cast member". Just today was this:

"Hey everyone! I have a friend who works at the Magic of Disney Animation at Disney's Hollywood Studios. He shared with some good and bad news about the attraction. . . . Now the bad news: In early January 2016, the Animation Academy will be going down for a 2-month refurbishment. When they reopen, they will no longer have the drawing desks."

Now, it's probably all true but my riff was off that. Any other day, if you read my posts, I stick just to the facts and try to be very fair with my comments. So on this one day I try a little levity. No sense of humor around here I guess.

Agree. How many times has the rumor been spread around that the Osborne Lights won't be around for much longer? How did the rumor start? Who knows? But it keeps on getting spread. And now the rumor is that it has to go to accommodate Star Wars. I still haven't seen anything official about it. Yet, the rumor persists. But I guess it's okay when you post to a thread titled "News AND Rumor".
