Help!! Hotel hopping (if thats even a thing...)

So basically, here's the story. Me and my girlfriend have a lot planned for this year (and the next couple) so this may be our last disney trip for awhile. We don't exactly have a lot of money to play around with, but being that it may be the last trip for awhile, we do want to make it special. We'd like to stay at a disney property (CBR) from sat to wed, and then stay offsite from wed to Sunday. So my question is, how do you fine folks pull this off? We've been looking around, and it looks like we basically have to book 2 separate vacations, one for the disney hotel and then another offsite hotel with a car rental. It looks like we'd have to take the magical express on wed morning to the airport to pick up the car rental too. Are we on the right track, or is there an easier way? Thank you for your time!!!

Can't you just add days on to your tickets for Wed through Sunday?

Taking the Magic express to the airport to rent the car is probably the best way to do that. You'll have to give them a flight number to get your time for Magic express (figure they'll pick you up 3 hours before that flights' departure time, so plan accordingly).

Or...you can rent a car and have it brought to you at your Disney resort before you check out and drive yourself to the next hotel. No need to take DME back to MCO. Our friends do a two week trip often, week one at Disney followed by week two off-site at a timeshare. They only need a car for week two. It's cheaper to rent the car from a location other than an airport, but then they turn it in at MCO when they fly home, no upcharge.

I'm curious about that too. I assumed that all companies charge for not returning the car to its original rental place. I could be wrong...

I know Alamo in the past for sure...see that link someone posted, that has some info as well.'Paperwork' is basically obsolete as it's all done online. You just sign for the car when it's delivered.

***Alamo because they get a work related discount, not because they do it thru the Car Care Center. Actually, I think they arrange it thru a regular Alamo location, not the Disney one....

Not always. We rent sometimes for long road trips as we lease vehicles and the kids love the minivans with the tv's. I'm not driving a minivan for 3 years. We have it delivered to the house and drop it off to wherever is convenient when we return. Always a different location, sometimes different town. Never been an issue. Got charged $20 once.

A lot of the time the weekly rate is the cheapest, so you might be able to get the car a few days before you need it. Not all companies will have the weekly as the cheapest, but check and see. Have a great trip, and I hope it all works out for you.
