Captains Grille Breakfast

I just booked a breakfast ADR for Captains Grille for the 31st of Dec. Has anybody dined here for breakfast that can give me a quick review. I haven't been able to find too many reviews from people who had breakfast.

Kona Cafe was also open, but since we are spending the day in Epcot I thought it would be nice to have breakfast and see the Boardwalk area before walking to Epcot and joining the madness that will be New Years Eve in Epcot.

We love the Captain's Grille! The restaurant itself is quiet and laid-back ~ a peaceful, non-hurried way to begin your morning. We always get the buffet (though the menu itself has many appealing offerings) which includes fruit and yogurts; cereals; pastries; muffins; Mickey waffles with different toppings; pancakes; French toast; eggs; frittatas; bacon & sausage; biscuits; breakfast potatoes; and a daily chef's special. Everything is fresh, hot and delicious. We don't eat again until dinner!

Great to hear! I did peruse the menu before choosing and everything sounded pretty good. It was a tough choice between Captains Grille and Kona Cafe, but since we are eating at O'hanas earlier in the trip I thought it would be nice to see a different resort.

What do you think my best way to get there will be? Just go to Epcot first and walk through it and out International Gateway?

If you have a car, you can drive and park at Yacht (since you have an ADR); you will need to leave the lot after you've eaten.

If you don't mind paying for a cab from your resort, a drop off at Yacht will save you a lot of walking from Epcot's front gate!

But if neither of those options work for you, then yes take the bus to Epcot and walk out the International Gateway to Yacht Club. I assume your reservation is for AFTER Epcot has opened?

It is good! Very quiet and relaxed location. The buffet is better than most - not at Boma level, but still very good. Enjoy!

Alternatively you could take the bus to DHS and then either walk to Yacht Club or take the launch if it is running/within sight. That's the cheapskate way to avoid taking a cab if your ressie is pre open.

I agree that it is nice to see different places so your choice is reasonable, but having finally eaten breakfast at Kona Cafe on our last trip, we will never make another trip to WDW without tonga toast and pineapple macadamia nut pancakes!

Yes its for 9:25. I wasn't sure if we had to go through the World Showcase and whether or not it would be open yet. We do have a car but were planning on staying at Epcot for the remainder of the day and to bring in the New Year.

I ate here without ADRs every morning of my last trip while staying at the Yacht Club. I love the breakfast offerings and it was never overly crowded. They even have the best syrup (some sort of praline type flavor) for the Mickey waffles like they have at Trail End buffet. I would eat there if I was in the area.

Totally agree take bus to studios then boat to Yacht Club. Also keep in mind the character breakfast at the Cape May/BC. Not as quiet of course as the Capt. Grill.

Breakfast buffet had great selection and was delicious! I highly recommend Captain's Grille for breakfast. But I also love Kona Cafe as well- the Samoan is the best! (Pulled pork hash with poached eggs on top and hollandaise/arugula )
Can't go wrong with either!

When we told my daughter about the trip I mentioned that we could go to some character buffets. I have a bit of a foodie in my 11 yr old daughter and she told me she was more interested in trying out lots of different restaurants and didn't really care for the buffets to just meet characters.
