Marketplace Bus lot question

Ever since the PI Bus lot closed I have been wondering how has the bus lot on the marketplace side been lately?

I was there in Jan/Feb just as they announced the closure of the PI Side and during various times it seem to get pretty crowded as the bus would arrive from the Marketplace to PI.

A disaster. It's confusing, crowded, and huge chunks of it are uncovered. which was great when it started raining Saturday night. Total disregard for fhe guest experience.

really? did you not bring an umbrella? is the rest of WDW covered? just because you were unprepared for the weather, it is Disney's fault?

ridiculous. it's a bus stop. every other bus stop in Disney is covered. I was essentially standing in the road waiting in the rain for the bus. Meanwhile, everyone in the bus area was asking each other where the queues for their resort where.

I'm not going to sit here and argue with you. I posted my experience with the boondoggle at DTD, you don't agree, like, care for my opinion. That's weird that it upsets you when I say something negative about your chosen brand, but, to each his own.

not my chosen brand, but blaming the weather on a company? that is like one of my boy scouts complaining that the Appalachian trail(well the 14 miles we hiked that day) caused his blisters(and not the fact that he neglected to bring the kinds of socks that are recommended)

yes, covered bus stands are the norm, but are they a requirement? if say you were to have your home worked on, would you complain that you have to live in a smaller area while it is being worked on? you went to DTD knowing that there are changes being made, and you post enough around here to know that temporary things aren't done in Orlando... they do not pay enough on what they do build to give the best experience possible, but they are going to erect temporary shelter for a bus stop that they are going to tear down and rebuild?

I hadn't heard about any changes (yet) to the Marketplace bus stops; There were always shelters at that location, when were they removed (and why, since the new bus facility won't be ready for some time)?

It has long been too small and congested, of course, and especially now with the Pleasure Island bus terminal closed (be nice to have use of the long shuttered West Side stops now).

I guess you've never been to DHS where the majority of their bus queues are uncovered. Or fort wilderness.. Or the value resorts.. Or the water parks.. Or the old west side bus stops.. Or half of the stops at wilderness lodge..

The bus stops at DTD are a bit busier now but they are really no different or worse than they have been for decades.

Let's cut to the chase. The only bus stop right now is at Marketplace, correct? I currently have an 11:30 lunch ADR at Raglan Rd. on my checkout day. Was thinking about House of Blues but it's much farther.

It's not miles long...

I tend to agree with you though I didn't get rained on. It was 90 degrees and no shade waiting for a bus that was way behind schedule. I don't believe it is a high expectation for a major bus hub like DTD to have a covered bus loop queue area for both rain and sun shelter.

Disney is not some third rate amusement park, it is a high end resort. Bus shelters are not a cutting edge and would have reasonable expectations that Architects would design shelter to major hubs in the 21st century given the climate of Central Florida.

I am not one to blame the guest and justify Disney building the cheapest builds they possibly can. What is next
Florida is hot, guests know that, put screens on the resort guest windows and not have A/C in the rooms. If it happened some would blame the guests for expecting A/C in Florida.

And a perfect example of cheerleading for Disney building on the cheap and blaming the guests. Turn what you said around a bit, how about, Deluxe and moderate bus stops are covered why not the value resorts? MK, Epcot and Animal Kingdom's mega bus loops ARE covered why not the Studios? Disney just opted for a poor cheap design for the bus loop at the Studios and DTD. Given WDW resort is a high end experience I anticipate more not less!

And you'll be pleased when the new bus location opens for Disney Springs

The bus stops at DTD that we are talking about were constructed DECADES ago. Could they have been better... sure. But they are what they are and are no worse now than they were decades ago except for being busier. I'm not trying to defend disney. But criticizing them now for something they did decades ago and are actively working to improve as we speak is absurd.

Let's not forget the entire reason we are talking about this is because of the Disney Springs project that will see the construction of brand new bus stops to replace these aging ones. Obviously disney too feels these bus stops are not adequate otherwise they would not be spending large sums of money to replace them. Let's wait and judge the new ones once they are finished.

Epcots bus stops were constructed decades ago too. The monorail covered areas were created decades ago.
The MK has been the way it is for a long time however they used their brains and covered the addition to the bus loop at the MK over the last year. Just because Disney executed the bus loops at DTD without regard to weather conditions intitally does not mean they cannot correct an error in judgement.

Lord let's hope so. Me, I've been going to Disney parks for nearly 50 years. The one thing I've learned this Century is don't count on everything that is in a concept drawing being realized. Disney has a nasty habit of trimming the heck out of their expansions.
