Boma vs Sanaa

We are dreaming and early planning for our anniversary trip next September. We have never eaten at Boma or Sanaa. Any thoughts on one over the other? The menus look amazing! We aren't very familiar with this type of food but we are willing to try.

Here's a suggestion: Boma for breakfast as it is clearly to me and DH the best breakfast buffet on property. Then do Sanaa for dinner. :)

I've never been to Boma (hoping to go next trip), but Sanaa is amazing! Setting, food, service...highly recommend!

Try the Boma breakfast for sure! I'm not big of the buffets elsewhere for breakfast but Boma for breakfast is a must do for me and DH. That and of course the non buffet option Kona for breakfast. I have heard the dinner at Boma is good too and we will try it eventually. :)

Thanks! My best friend told me the same thing about their breakfast, I definitely want to try it next trip. I'm tempted to book it for dinner, too, the dinner menu looks just as good!

We booked Sanaa in Jan for our next trip. I prefer non buffet places was the main reason. But we are tempted to hit Boma for breakfast, that or TH at Animal Kingdom for breakfast.

First stay at AKL, I think I am most excited about the awesome bar they have, well I read it was awesome. :)

We have dined at both for dinner. They are both very different meals. Boma, for a buffet, is wonderful. There are interesting and healthy choices at Boma, not just your standard buffet foods. Fresh fish, all different types of salads, soups, pita bread, hummus. I prefer those kinds of foods anyway, but my husband enjoys the ribs at Boma and the peanut noodles. They don't serve them every day, I believe only Sunday and Tuesday, but don't quote me on that. The desserts are amazing, and different. Sanaa has great offerings that are different and exceptionally flavorful. Our last trip in July, we dined at both. The animals outside the window came wandering past, the atmosphere is breathtaking. Eating dinner with a giraffe, it makes for a very unique dining experience. Let us know what you think and enjoy!

We just did both as well, and and glad we did. We liked both a lot, but loved Boma dinner. Great soups, salads, sides, wide variety and you can try it all then finish with Zebra Domes. Highlight for us at Sanaa was the bread service with all the accompaniments and the dessert trio.

If you end up staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, I'd say just plan a meal at all of them. Those resorts have some of the best restaurants on property. Boma for breakfast is a great option. Sanaa for lunch is always a winner. Jiko for dinner is one of the best meals you can have in a Disney restaurant in any location.

Sometimes, we like to do a progressive dinner without any reservations at those resorts. We will start the night at the Victoria's Falls Lounge and have a cocktail or two and a snack from their bar menu. From there, we'll walk over to the Kidani building and have appetizers and another beverage in the Sanaa Lounge (which has great, personable bartenders and offers the full restaurant menu at any available seat). We then head back to Jambo and have dinner in the Jiko Lounge. It's small, but it's rarely ever full. They, too, offer the full restaurant menu. It's a great night in two beautiful resorts, and you can just do it on a whim since no reservations are needed.

Just throwing that out there as a back-up option.

I would choose Boma hands down. Such a great Variety of foods! If you really like exotic food, I would say go with Sanaa. I like exotic food and trying new things but when we went it seemed like all the food was very bitter tasting...we would not go back, but Boma we definitely would! We would like to try breakfast there next time!

I've eaten at Boma, Jiko and Sanaa (all of which are at the Animal Kingdom Lodge). Each one of these places is excellent and any would be a good choice for a meal.

Boma's breakfast is one of my favorites on property. However, as far as dinner, I would recommend Sanaa over Boma. In fact, Sanaa is my favorite non-signature restaurant on property.

Jiko is more upscale and something to think about if this is during an anniversary trip, but I'd definitely recommend Sanaa over Boma in terms of dinner...Sanaa's food and service are wonderful and the atmosphere is delightful (but the décor is not as refined as Jiko).

Happy dining!

I've not done Boma, but Sanaa is fantastic. From what I hear, though, you really can't go wrong with any of the restaurants over at AKL. Plus, it's the perfect excuse to walk around and take in the lovely decor and atmosphere of the resort.

While I'll preface this with my typical...it all boils down to personal preferences...but we preferred Sanaa. We've eaten at Sanaa twice and had dinner at Boma once. To us, Boma wasn't bad, but for all of the accolades...we expected so much more...especially in the meats area. Sanaa on the other hand was just exceptional on pretty much every level during our visits. I'd definitely go out of my way to eat at Sanaa.

Sanaa is nice, but the variety at Boma can't be beat.
Honestly, I'd be happy paying full price for Boma just for the soups- they're that good.

Unlike what others have said, I find Boma's breakfast to be a poor and boring substitute for their dinner.

We absolutely ADORE everything about Boma. Our family has a wide variety of culinary preferences, plus a vegetarian. Boma is by far our favourite restaurant on property. Setting, variety, service, value... hands down.

That said, I think we'll try the Boma breakfast buffet on our trip this coming March. We've not done breakfast there yet and everyone says it's truly unreal.
