Current parking situation at Downtown Disney

Hi guys,

I thought this maybe the best place to post this question as it kind of relates to parking affected by the building currently going on. We arrive in a little over a week (Wed 17th September) for 3 weeks. We always spend time at DD and usually visit the AMC theatre several times along with Disney Quest and the shops. I'm aware that the original parking lots at the front are being converted so parking is at a premium but do have a question.

As I suffer from dystonia walking is very possible but at the same time rather tiring for me and I'm not the fastest walker. We were hoping to go to the AMC theatre on our second full day (Friday 19th September) about 4pm ish but I'm wondering what the parking situation is going to be like. Last year when construction had began we parked behind Cirque du Soleil and had a slightly longer walk to get to DD. I've heard stories of parking at the Animal Kingdom and being bussed in, is this true as we'll just go to Eagle Ridge Mall cinema if that's the case!

I do have a disabled parking permit but appreciate that the world doesn't revolve around making parking spaces for people with disabilities, I'm not trying to make out that Disney should have a special spot for me. I'm just wondering on a Friday at 4pm whether I'll be having a long walk from the casting centre car park (if they still do that?) or be expected to park at the AK and bus it (yeah right :arghh:).

Should probably be able to park behind Cirque at that hour (entrance 5, keep driving back until you can't go straight any more). There are disabled spots back there fairly close to the walkway; you come up between Cirque and HoB, not far from DisneyQuest/AMC.

For a Friday afternoon in September, you should be fine parking in Lot Q behind Cirque. There are some disability spaces toward the front of the lot next to House of Blues as well as a good amount of regular spaces, although the back of the lot is a bit of a hike. There is also valet service on the front side of Cirque which would get you as close as you can get to AMC for $10-$20.

From time to time they overflow to the Team Disney office building parking lot right across the street from AMC (about the same walk as the back of Lot Q, honestly). They have never forced guests to park at Animal Kingdom. There was a test a year ago where a DTD shuttle was offered as a convenience to those leaving DAK early, but apparently it didn't catch on.

Thanks guys, that sounds reassuring enough. Last October we parked behind Cirque but I was wondering if that was still the same and it sounds like it is.
