Germany Pretzels...Good or Bad?

On my last trip to Epcot I decided to get some pretzels at Germany, because why not? Their good right? I regretted my choice afterwards though, because they were stale and very, very dry. Like, worse then the worst pretzels at the mall. Maybe it was an off day for the pretzels makers, but they were not very good. This was strange to me, because on the trip before my last trip (2009) they were much better then when I had them then. What do you think? Are they good, bad, or ugly? (sorry...I had to say that, lol) But anyways, what do you think?

If you're talking about the jumbo pretzels they sell at the cart outside the pavilion....as near as I can tell, they're the same ones your local fair or mall buys from food wholesalers. Absolutely nothing special or unique about them. Tasted just like one I'd get anywhere else.

Yes, they did kind of taste like the ones from the local fairs.

Pretzels can be baked as a hard product or as a soft product (like a Philly soft pretzel or the Aunt kind at malls). Beer pretzels are usually the hard kind. If it was supposed to be a soft pretzel but was stale, dry, and cold, that is very unappetizing. If it was supposed to be a beer pretzel, hard and dry goes well with beer. We have even seen the hard kind sometimes dunked in beer and then consumed, kinda like cookies in milk.

Normally, they are by far and away the best you'll ever taste. However, in the summer it seems like the display case continues to cook them and they become just as you've described.

I never thought they were any good. My aunt liked them one time and was trying to make it a tradition (gotta get a pretzel from Germany before the end of the night) There are so many other amazing delicacies from the Show Case I rather spend my money on like a Moroccan Baklava or the pear tart from Norway.

Personally I love them especially with a beer, little mustard and cheese sauce (you can get it in other locations)

Yes nothing like a cold, hard, tasteless, dry pretzel to dissappoint when you want one to enjoy during RoE. Had once and never again.

Being of German heritage and as a kid taking visits to Penn Dutch country as a kid, the ones in Germany are not quite so good
I love the Mickey Pretzels, we just came back and had to have one every couple of days
They were good in every park

It depends on a number of factors. How long they have been frozen, how long defrosted, and how long under the heat lamps.

Sometimes they are good, other times no-so-good. I never had one that was outstanding.

For what it's worth, they will never be like a mall pretzel shop one (and I don't want them to be) those things they sell in the mall have about a stick of butter added to each one.

Can't speak to the pretzel cart, but the pretzel bread INSIDE Biergarten is amazing.
