Liberty Mountain

Line of thought:

Every land in the MK should have a "mountain". Fire Mountain and Bold Mountain were once planned for Adventureland and Fantasyland, respectfully. That leaves Liberty Square and Main Street as the only two lands without mountain rides. Since it makes no sense to put one on Main Street, that leaves just Liberty Square.

Enter Liberty Mountain

An labyrinth of tunnels inside a "secret" underground city of nuclear fallout bunkers makes its way from its entrance at the US Capitol (Hall of Presidents) to the NORAD Command Center of hallow Shian Mountain (the expansion pad next to BTMRR). The facade of the show building will have a replica of Mount Rushmore.

This is not a drill!

Red swirling lights and loud sirens go off. AA commanders gather at the controls, rummaging through book binders, answering phones that always ring and flash with light, and watch attentively an elongated overhead computer projection display of Earth and real-time tracking movement of thermal nuclear missiles.

We are told to hurry through a massive blast door. Once through, the door slams closed behind us. The ground below us begins to shake from an earthquake - cause unknown. The lights go dark. For a brief moment, there is complete darkness. A generator turns on and a dotted trail of dimly-lit orange-tinted lights along the walls by the floor of the walkway guide us further, deeper.

At the end of the walkway, television monitors turn on. A video of the President speaking appears, informing us that WWIII is under way and we are lucky because we were in the right place at the right time, safe and secure in a fully equipped and supplied underground military city. A top secret underground high speed maglev rail network will transport us to another underground city in another state for an efficiency assignment.

The ground shakes again. There is another earthquake. Rubble from the ceiling begins to fall. Down the hall, the ceiling begins to collapse. We are rushed to the maglev loading platform. A train approaches, doors open, and we are lead inside the train.

The train takes off quickly and abruptly as we are jolted from our seats. The view from the windows gets real blurry, creating the illusion we are traveling at 3,000 miles an hour. The song "America, the Beautiful" starts playing on the loud speakers.

The rest of the ride would be about the history of America, seen through the eyes of the US soldier, heroes of war. Going backwards through time, we would be taken to adrenaline-filled moments of the major wars the US was involved with, such as a WWII Air Force Avenger dog fight, the jungles of Vietnam, and a canon battle during the Revolutionary War.

Certainly not very Disney-like. I would not take children on something like this.
The parks need more PG-13 stuff. TZTOT was a good start. Yeah, MK may not be appropriate place for these. They tried it with AE and we ended up with Stitch.

Just to tell you why plopping down a giant Mt. Rushmore in the middle of the Colonial-Era East Coast isn't exactly theme-fitting, let's imagine plopping down a giant Hollywood sign in Colonial Williamsburg, or having black pastors roam around Holy Land Experience.

Uh...why would that be an anachronism?
