Has anyone done the Wishes Dessert Party recently? We just booked it for January and it starts at 6 pm. Wishes is at 8. Is it now 2 hours of pastry where it was formerly 1?

I would double check and see if they changed the hours on you. they have been changing a lot. it is usually one hour before wishes.

I was happy you posed this question...I'd been wondering the same thing. We have a 6:15 reservation for the Dessert Party in December, but everywhere I look shows Wishes doesn't start until 10:00

I can eat a lot of dessert, but 4 hours of dessert?

I emailed Disney about this. We'll see if I get a response. I assume it's a glitch that needs to be fixed and peoples RSVP times adjusted.

Agreed!! I called and asked about it, but the CM had no answer. There's no MVMCP that night and the park is open till 10:00. I would much prefer to arrive at 8:00ish since we'll be at HS before then. Hopefully, it'll be adjusted before we get to December :)

I received this somewhat odd response:

Dear Kyle,

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

The times are booked for the experience earlier in the evening for
preparation purposes. You would want to arrive at the location at around
6:45 PM for the reservation. You can also confirm this by calling the
Disney Reservation Center at 407-939-3463.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

sounds to me like they are still doing the party as usual, just some strange computer thing going on

in my experience (have done the party about 7-8 times), they start letting people in one hour before wishes. the quoted times for booking are scattered at 10 min intervals so that not everyone arrives at once. but that doesn't work because around 1 hour before the party, lots of people get in line. this is an unnecessary waste of your time. your tables are pre-assigned with your name on them so you don't get a better seat by arriving early.
just arrive around 5 after the hour and there is little to no wait to be seated.
we actually usually watch the parade from the sidewalk in front of the plaza and then about 20 after when the parade is over, walk right in with no line. we have plenty of time to get desserts and settle in.

if I were you I would just plan on arriving around 7:05. they say 6:45 because they always tell folks to be places early. they say 1 1/2 hours before hoop de doo to get there, we arrive 5-10 minutes before the show and walk right in without the hour wait in line!!!

I am a bit confused at why they are telling EVERYONE to arrive around 6 pm now. Even if Wishes is at 10 pm. Glitch or not, this needs to be fixed so as to not waste people's time.

oh, so agreed
never heard of such craziness
hopefully they will email everyone when they fix this thing. not fair to folks, not everyone goes to posting boards like you do to figure this out and NOT waste your time

so, did you notice - published on this site- that this is not a glitch. but the new plan. and you can find out 2 weeks before you go, what time you are really going.

i'm going to guess this has something to do with giving them more flexibility to change the time of wishes without having to change party time?

can't come up with any other good explanation.
any other ideas?

So I'm now wondering how this will affect me. I booked the dessert party at 6 months out, way before this change took place, and I have a specific reservation time for 9:10 p.m. Regardless of what time people arrive, I hope they're actually seating people based on the order in which they purchased. I read a trip report somewhere and the writer said that was what happened, but with all the changes going around, who really knows anything anymore?

Interesting. At least it's a set policy now. I'm sure it's related to the now-commonplace changes in evening hours as time goes on.

When we last attended in 2012 everyone lined up an hour before and everyone was let in regardless of what time you were given, so we had a 9:15 arrival, but where allowed in at 9. Everyone has assigned tables, so it's not like you have to fight for a seat.

Thanks for the info! Sorry for the late response; I need to get on here more often. Work is killer.
