FP+ Change Email for TSMM?

Hi all! I just got 2 emails from WDW regarding my TSMM FPs.

I've got 3 TSMM FPs in all--two around 7 p.m., and one in the a.m. I got two emails about the evening FPs saying they are "no longer available due to an unexpected change in the operating schedule." I'll have replacement FPs that I can use after 9 a.m. on any other attraction. TSMM appears on the list of attractions in the email, but it's greyed out (the other attractions are all listed in purple). I don't know if that means it's no longer a possibility at all.

Anybody know what gives? HS is open until 10 p.m. both of those nights. Thanks for any info/advice.

Sorry--forgot to add that. They're for Weds 8/13 and Sat 8/16. The third FP (the one I did not receive an email about) looks fine so far on Fri 8/15 at 11:15 a.m. The others vanished from my MDE itinerary and when I went in to see if I could add TSMM earlier on those days, it just doesn't appear in the list of possibilities.

I'll bet you that this is due to the Frozen Fireworks this summer.

Mickey Ave (and now Pixar Place) is a pyro fallout zone when they have a large fireworks show at the Studios. Thus anything along that stretch must be closed and fully clear of Guests before the show. Presumably TSMM is now scheduled to close at some earlier time in the evening (probably 7:30-8pm ish) and any FP+ selections scheduled after that point have been removed.

Back when the Studios first opened this wasn't a huge deal because Mickey Avenue was closed to guest foot traffic, and even when they did open it up there weren't any major attractions along there so it was easily closed off. But now with a major headliner attraction along there it poses a problem.

That sounds like exactly the reason! And it further proves the point that this whole summer specail thing was totally thrown together last minute. Sorry the OP and presumedly many others lost fastpasses because of it.

Thanks, Rob. I figured this had to do with the Frozen festivities but wasn't sure exactly how. I'm excited to see these fireworks but man. How does it make sense to shut down one of your headliners at 7 p.m., especially considering the fireworks don't start until 9:45? Frozen giveth and Frozen taketh away!

When I called the FP+ help people they said "something is probably going on in the evening" in that area. They can't guarantee that my third morning FP won't be cancelled, but said it probably won't be.

I wish they would tell me what the cutoff time is for TSMM using that third floating FP+--will the attraction shut down at 5? 6? Annoying because I have ADRs for both those days that will prevent me from getting to HS much earlier than 6:30.

Messing around with the FP+ system I was able to secure FP+ for a 7:00-8:00 window, but nothing is showing up later than that. I presume that it means that TSMM will be scheduled to close at 8pm on those nights. That'll leave them enough time to cycle through any Guests in the FP+ and Standby lines in time to have them clear of Pixar Place before the fireworks at 9:45.

I presume any "floating" FP+ that can be used at TSMM will be able to be used anytime before 8pm.

Thank you again--I appreciate you checking that out. The windows that got cancelled on me were 7:05-8:05 and 7:10-8:10. Probably juuuust missed the cutoff. I wish they'd give me the option of moving the FP up so I don't have to worry about missing it entirely. I'll be keeping my eye on this!

Did you try going into the FP+ system and getting times before 7pm? The 7pm window I got was for July 29th, the latest I can see without a hotel reservation so you should be OK for dates later than that. Or perhaps the "wildcard" FP+ is better than assigning a specific time and it'd be best for you to keep that.

If it is a real "wildcard" replacement fastpass it can only be used during or after the originally booked time thus why I think some people have reported TSMM is a different color than everything else. We were given one when 7DMT was down and we had 9am fps. CMs at the ride told us the wild cards would automatically be assigned if the system shows the ride down during your return time (thus why people would be getting the emails already) and it will allow you to get on any ride on the list but it is a use it and lose fp. So if you use it at BTMRR instead of 7DMT you can't come back to 7DMT later in the day if it comes up. I assume this would be the same. Say if the park is they extend park hours to 11pm (not likely but possible) and you use your 8:10pm mast fp for Rockin Roller Coaster you can't then return to TSMM and say omg we had fps but they were cancelled can we still use them because you used them on RRC.

I would go in and see if you can snag them for just before that cutoff window, just to see what happens. You may even end up catching a loophole in the system and getting those on top of the floating pass you're getting for being booted from your original time. I'd be curious to see if that would work lol. I would think it might, because when EE went down and we got a floating pass, that pass did not keep us from being able to snag other fastpasses. So we had the floating pass to use on a whim, plus we were still snagging rolling passes without any issue. We ended up using the floating pass after EE went back up, and by then we had already used the rolling system for three other rides.

I'd say give it a shot :)

Not sure WHAT my options are here, but part of that might be user error on my part.

When I log on to MDE, my other 2 FPs for the days in question show up. No 3rd FP appears anymore. I've tried to change those FPs to TSMM, but TSMM doesn't show up as an option at all. Not even for earlier in the day.

Does anyone know if I'd have better luck getting an earlier TSMM if I delete my existing FPs entirely and start over?

Hm the plot thickens. I would hate for your to delete the existing FPS but DHS usually has everything available day of just no great times so it may be worth a shot.

I would say that TSM would be the only thing that might be in jeopardy of not being wide open at this point, so if it was me I would delete the whole day and start over just to see what happens.

You said only the other two are there... is there not an extra FP listed that says "choice of experience"?

Aaggghhh...I'm thinking this through and I'm not even sure deleting/starting fresh is a good idea. I can't be in HS until 5 or 6 pm those days, and if I start over I assume I'll lose the 3rd floating FPs. If I lose them and can't get new TSMM FPs between 5 and 8 pm, I'm way out of luck. I guess I'm better off keeping things the way they are and just booking to TSMM as soon as I'm in HS those nights.

I went back in to MDE to check and nope...nothing like that anywhere! Is that what usually happens?

Yes, the floating fastpass should show up on your MDE account as a "choice of experiences." You may want to call tomorrow to verify that it's still showing up on your end, as it may be possible that it's just not showing up yet because the dates are so far out (I'm guessing).

Good point though about possibly losing the other one. I wouldn't think that would happen because the extra one shouldn't be tied to the other two, but you may want to see if you can talk to someone who knows a lot about FP+ when you call to verify all of this. Availability for everything else won't change by tomorrow anyway (at least not significantly), so you might as well wait until you talk to someone and get more information.

If I were you, I would call Guest Relations and explain the situation. They will probably be able to help you out. In my view, if WDW wants you to plan out your day 60 days in advance then they should be able to help you secure TSMM FP+s for an earlier time that day when they change the schedule and negate the planning made by you in advance. They recently helped me out with my FP+s and also with my ADRs when a little thing called Villians Money Grab event was scheduled for the day we were going to DHS.

I was told by WDW Internet help that sometimes you can not view all the FP+s that you have selected on your phone/pc... but they are there. I would just call and find out for sure though.

Thanks everyone! I'll definitely call WDW again and try to secure a real FP for an acceptable time. There was a bit of a language barrier when I called the FP helpline yesterday so I didn't bother pushing/asking ALL my questions. Hopefully there's a simple fix.

I'm sure tons of people are affected by this (and will be flipping out once they get to HS and find out TSMM is shut down early every night) so I'm going to keep an eye on the boards, too. Should be fun!
