I'm glad it ended well for you. Taking care of aging parents can be more stressful than raising children - at least in my experience.

I agree. Kids generally have a learning curve. Parents it's usually not the case. It's an incredibly frustrating situation.

@unkadug was a week early!!

Who was it that made and then ate a whole box of pudding the other day? If it was chocolate then you were just celebrating early! Sorry, I'm to lazy to look back and figure it out.

See above. ;)

Sounds like today is starting off on a good note!!! Here's to wishing everyone a happy day!!!

This brought me a big smile this morning! Woot!

Thank you everyone for hanging in there with me last night. My DD and I were climbing the walls being the ones at the ready assigned to home base. Thankful for a place to share and vent.

I still don't know the entire story. DH came in at dawn showered and went off to work, not the time to press for details, he missed the majority of day of work yesterday and has only had a nap. Said she was having a hard time putting sentences together last night when they got her to her condo but she was tired, stressed, without any of her meds, grasping for words and went off to bed.

My guess is she will not share her adventure with family though this kinda stuff she tends to remember. She tends to hide things that go wrong because she still realizes some will come down on her, so she doesn't tend to share. Likely why she shut off her phone and didn't call anyone.

Thankful for the newer law of Silver Alert and the police that were also looking for her especially since she got so far away which leads me to believe she was heading to the cemetery to chat with FIL. Thank goodness she ran out of gas in a safe area, she does put gas in her car so if she had this could have turned out badly as the night went on for her and possibly others.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Glad she's home, and all turned out well. Maybe not "well", but okay.
I'm sure more details will emerge as the day wears on.

Maybe it's time her doctor suspended her driving licence. Touchiest subject in the world to bring up with aging parents. So much easier when the doctor does it.

I would have liked to have given you a second like for your use of the word - nap.

I think the only kind I've ever had was the instant. Now I'm curious what the taste difference is.

Not only does it taste like plastic like @Nemo14 said, the texture is much silkier and firmer with cook & serve and you get that wonderful "puddin' skin" on the top (the best part, in my opinion). Instant is OK as a filling for a layer cake (I like using the tiramisu flavor and adding mini chocolate chips).

Glad she's home, and all turned out well. Maybe not "well", but okay.

I will NEVER forget when I had to tell my mother in law that I did not want mu father in law driving when my kids were in the car. Awful conversation. Thankfully, she was completely understanding (to my face, at least).

Good morning!
Glad everything turned out OK. We've only had one escape attempt here and that was 2 years ago, but we keep her under wachful eyes here - hard for her to get away with anything. Her bedroom door sticks in the summer weather, so it's easy to hear if she tries to get out during the night, plus we have a baby monitor on in her bedroom with the receiver in ours. Other than that there's always one of us here with her. It's a scary thing to think about them escaping.

Thank you. If anyone would understand you are the one.

MIL has yet to be officially diagnosed. My DH started attending doctor appointments with her this year as everyone was noticing the slippage but Doc's find that she still has most of her marbles so it is difficult to overrule much and the state renewed her a licence, she passed with flying colors. She drives only a few blocks in any given direction, church, seniors, store. At this point the only reason she will go to assisted living is because this is her idea. She only had one other documented issue when found in her parking garage sleeping but she had a high fever and severe flu, wouldn't qualify as mentally incapacitated. She got up yesterday, drove to crafts, drove her friend home, told her friend where she was going next and with who, so she can follow a schedule, get up shower, dress, set her hair etc. She doesn't wander. She would likely be more forthcoming if other in the family didn't talk down to her as she still has more sound mind than not. Will be interested to see how the other two families react with her over last nights event. It is a weird family dynamic with his two brothers married to two sisters and the two sisters trying to make all the calls for their MIL which annoys the heck out MIL.

We all know this is only going to get worse and are happy that she has made the choice of Assisted Living because the Doc's likely would not sign off on declaring her incapable at this stage. I still believe she made an impulse decision to bolt and not meet with a new doctor from assisted living who would talk to her a few minutes and decide her fate in the center. She was unaware of this step as was my DH. The brothers secrets backfired last night.

I appreciate your words of wisdom as we seem to be heading down your life trail too. Thanks.

We had to take away Mom's car when she drove to my brother's and had no idea how she had got there. She had also had 2 accidents before that. Neither one resulted in serious injury, but could have been much worse if not for the skills of the other drivers involved. The first one was a matter of the sun being in her eyes, so she made a left turn into the hospital driveway where she volunteered and was broadsided by a huge sand truck. The truck driver did all he could but the impact spun her car several times across a very busy road. Fortunately she didn't hit anything else.
The second time she just pulled out onto a road without looking and was hit by another car. She could have killed someone or been killed herself either time, so we knew it was time to yank her licence.
