EXCERPT FROM THE CAPTAIN'S LOG

Land is finally in sight on the horizon! We have reached the first messages from the beginning of June. 21 more days of posts to go through, and assuming the weather is fair, we shall arrive at our destination: Sagetopia, Witwibs Province, WDWMagicLand. However, food supplies are running low.

Yeah, we meant to leave some rhubarb out for you, but Busey contaminated it all with one of his "accidents".

I'm not a big fan of mornings either.

Off to work at Hubby's new model home today, where I will get to stand rooted in one spot for 7-8 hours.

This is also the official "Grand Opening". Last week was the official "Preview Opening". There will be bbq'd food, face painting, popcorn and cotton candy.

Yeah, that's an awesome idea. Let's give kids sticky cotton candy (y'all might call it candy floss) and bags of over-flowing popcorn, and then turn them loose in fully furnished, multi-million dollar homes.

Not sure how much I'll be checking in until this evening. Have a good day everyone.

Oh my.
My firm is usually involved in what they call a "Parade of Homes" pretty much every year. It involves a new subdivision or a new section of an existing one being opened. To showcase, usually about 6-10 lots are made available and select builders participate in a lottery for the lots. Then, the builders pic the architects they want to work with. One year we had 3 of the 7 builders pic us. One of them backed out, thinkin' we wouldn't be able to keep them all under wraps, but, the other 2 still used us and neither ever saw anything we were ever doing for the other.
Anyway, the preview/opening night is always held on a Friday by invitation only, and then the actual parade, open to the public with the purchase of a ticket, starts the next day and goes through the following Sunday.
Some of the homes are purchased by a buyer during early design, mid-construction, etc. Others not until weeks, or even months, after the Parade. Those opening Friday nights can be quite crazy with all the plentiful food and adult beverages.
During the following days of the Parade, most of the "fun" is restricted to outside the homes, and no food or drink (other than bottled water) is allowed inside the homes. But, obviously, the traffic tends to take a toll, so many have provisions written into the contract regarding such. Generally fun stuff, and that preview/opening night is usually a hoot...! :)

ETA: Hope y'all had a great overall, and sales, day. And, hope all went well, despite...!!! :)

Yep. They don't like cinnamon, mustard (though it stains, I wouldn't recommend mustard powder or seed because of this), hate nutmeg most of all...and red pepper flakes.

To keep her out of my Xmas tree, I made bird houses and covered them with the above and hung them on the tree. She stayed away..the entire season. Since then I've kept cinnamon and nutmeg on the faux fireplace so she won't terrorize my flowers. It smells lovely and she hates it. I typically just sprinkle it (heavily, but that's just to her off) over the area and layer the nutmeg and cinnamon.

You might blow your nose and notice it's brown, so uh, fair warning. It's happened. :cautious:

The cat will only venture onto the surface after about a two months...so I'd sprinkle the yummy smelling stuff again :) I put down fresh cinnamon about an hour ago and my cat won't even come into the room.

I sprinkle red pepper flakes outside to keep the wild critters out of my bushes and larger flowers. Mint will also keep many critters away too. There is a whole array of critters that hate mint and you can put that out in oil form outside.
