I don't think I'd be able to watch that... I would be a blubbering mess.

I have a very soft spot for elderly folks, and I think that's due to being raised with my grandparents and taking care of them in their later years, and right before they both died.

There's not a lot of things I can't handle, but elderly abuse and animal abuse are on my 'no' list. And if I see one crying, that's it, I'm done, I'm crying too.

I used to volunteer at a nursing home, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing people who were all but 'abandoned' and making their day... just by sitting there and chatting. I had to stop when my grandfather died.. I couldn't handle it anymore.

I've had two Uncles in Vietnam, distant uncles and cousins in WW2 and even a handful in WW1. My one Uncle has a family collection of medals, weapons, a uniform from the wars...and a belt! I wanna say there's something from the Civil war in there too but it's been a long time since I've seen or asked about it. I do know there are Nazi 'trophies' in the collection- pins and such ripped off of soldiers. I do have photos of them, on my home computer.

We also used to do a lot of visits to a local nursing home when the girls were in GS and through a volunteer program DS was in in HS. Feel the exact same as you do. They LOVE so much just to be listened to and have somebody care. And, of course, there is so much to be learned from them sharing their many life experiences.

DW actually has some relatives that fought in the Revolutionary war as well as one that died fighting at The Alamo.

My grandfathers fell into that time-frame too.

My Dad went to occupied Japan, was released early because his Dad died but then they recalled him as Korea started so he went twice into the service.

My Mom one of 12 had 7 brothers, 3 of which enlisted after Pearl Harbor. None of them ever thought they'd come home while serving. All 3 did come home with horrible drinking issues. 2 went to Korea, one no branch of the military wanted and my youngest uncle only 10 years older than me went to Vietnam, he never had kids, he said he had seen to much in Nam to ever think of bringing a kid into this world. Yet out of that dozen of kids he was one of the few normal ones.

The 24 year old down the street is in his last year of 6 years in the service. He is in Cali now. Amen. He is a medic. They kept popping him back and forth between Irac & Afghanistan. He wants to be an EMT. Likely there isn't much training he'll need, he has about seen it all.

So hard and so sad, but their sacrifices are so very much appreciated.

Yep, he'll likely make one of the best EMTs ever.

Oh this trick I could have used often in my lifetime. My Mustang was the worst, but worth the burns.

Yep, NASA could learn from this...
Forget all the heat shields, tiles, and so forth. Just cover the dang ship with a giant oven mitt before reentry.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Back to work tomorrow.

I spent some time on the phone today, and have someone coming in tomorrow @ 6:00.
I told him "Firm, full price, and certified cheque".

Assuming he shows, I should be sold out again.

Fingers crossed.

I'm sure I'm not the first to post this, but I was surprised to see it pop up on my FB page.
Posted by a news agency, no less. In the midst of two separate election campaigns.

Anyway, here it is:

The title is very promising. "The Second One" will really draw people in. It looks like it could make a run at the popularity of the first one.

You trying to embed a Tweet? If so, I've tried that too, but never could figure it out.
