When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
And oh yeah, we did go to The Outback for dinner.

No pics. Everything was very good. I think there should be a HALF Bloomin' Onion on the menu. Two people should not (and in our case, could not) eat a whole one.

Question - when did The Outback become so darn casual? TV screens everywhere, kids running around; just way too casual. I neither need, nor want, fancy schmancy tux-wearing servers every night, but the atmosphere at The Outback has definitely declined.

I've heard the same said about Disney Signature restaurants, but this is not the thread for that discussion.

I don't ever remember going to an Outback that wasn't casual.

Outback always had a "sport bar-restaurant for the entire family" style as far I know.
No wait until he gets back.

agree, let's not spoil someone's first ever vacation... even if its purely fueled by fumes of pixie dust.

They are all pretty casual in NJ for as long as I can remember. It was never a place I felt bad wearing a t-shirt and shorts to.

We first started going 23 years ago in Clearwater. The music was lower, the lighting was dimmer, what kids there were remained seated. Same thing up here in Ontario.
It was more on par with The Keg, and less on level with Ponderosa.

Never heard of The Keg, and didn't Ponderosa go out of business a while ago? Or was that just around here?

Yeah, I pretty done with Outback, though my Mom still favors it. The one by her is in a hotel and is still a nicer version of casual. Most of the ones I've been to have been turned into a sports bar atmosphere with children. When we are going to do casual steak dinners we usually head to Longhorn now.

And parents are a problem with kids in all sorts of restaurants. I can't even say it is the majority of parents but it only takes a few to ruin the atmosphere of any type of restaurant. A restaurant is not a playground which parents seem to ignore. Parents ignore the premise that they are seated at a table, they tend to overlook the seated philosophy. I don't care if it is McD's or Artist Point, I don't want some kid running around my table in any venue.
While the children's poor behavior may bug me, I blame the parents not the kids.

Only buffet I will ever recommend or really want to eat at is Boma.
We used to have a great chicken and fish buffet at a local restaurant here a couple years ago before they remodeled. Now it's just a normal sit-down restaurant. Not sure why they stopped the buffets, they were always packed with the same customers every week. Some of them never seemed to stop eating, though, so maybe that's why.
