Disney workers robbed leaving work at the cast member parking lot at MK

That's a disgrace. Those poor guys hardly make enough as it is and then something like this happens. Obviously these thieves don't know what disney pays. Hope Disney does something decent and helps them replace what was taken.
That shouldn't matter. Stealing is stealing and it's wrong no matter what. Buy I too agree that Disney should do something to help.

The MK Cast Lots are lit, but it's the dim lighting, so it's still kind of dark walking through the lots at night. Disney security is a JOKE! There is one security guard at the Westclock Bus Loop for CM's and that's it for all 3 MK cast parking lots. I guarantee Disney WILL NOT replace anything that was stolen. The claims department would try to make the cast members provide proof as to exactly what they lost, and the CM's would not be able to, then they would be SOL.

According to the article, the employees were walking to an apartment complex and at least one robbery took place on Jayme Dr. This is not in the parking lot so wouldn't appear to have anything to do with Disney security. Even the picture at the top of the article clearly shows police cars in an apartment complex. Security in the parking lots may not be the best, but they can't be blamed for something that didn't even happen in the lot.

Across the street from where I live. To be honest, I'm surprised something like this hasn't happened before around here. That apartment complex has been open for less than a year.

Maybe they should have robbed some of those greedy WDW execs instead huh?

It's a unfortunate situation but can happen anywhere. I would hope disney would increase security now

The problem is that they most likely pay $10.00 hr for a security guard. Would you put your life on the line for $10 hr? An off duty, uniformed police officer would be a good way to go. They get around $35-40 hr. Hopefully Disney is willing to shell that out for the safety of their CM's.

Jayme drive is where the Windermere cay apartments are (new ones) right next to the MK cast lot... so, the two robberies were not very far apart...

Let this be a lesson everyone, turn on the tracker on your cellphone. It's a great way to recover it in the event of theft.

Bingo. Not sure how this can be Disney's fault, or how an increase in Disney Security in the employee parking lots could have stopped these muggings.

Metro Orlando has one of the highest per capita crime rates in the nation, and made the 25 Most Dangerous Cities in America list again, etc., etc. It's been that way for years and years. The adjoining city of Kissimmee also has a very high per capita crime rate. These are not safe cities to wander around in, and the CM's who were mugged on their walk back to the apartments at 1:00 AM need to be aware of that.

If there's any responsibility Disney has in this, about the only thing I can think of is it would be nice if Disney could provide training and communication to their CM's on behaviors to use to avoid being the victim of a crime. Walking along a road at 1:00 AM in a statistically very high crime area with an expensive cell phone in your pocket is not a good behavior, unfortunately. Thankfully no one was injured or killed!
