"Intangible assets primarily consist of intellectual property based on the Star Wars franchise with an estimated useful life of approximately 40 years. The goodwill reflects the value to Disney from leveraging Lucasfilm intellectual property across our distribution channels, taking advantage of Disney's established global reach."

I would assume that they have to put some kind of a number on it to access future value and revenue. Star Wars could technically go on indefinitely or could fizzle out after episode 7.

All Star Wars has to do is ignore whatever was established in the prequels (like making "the force" scientific) and all is well.

As someone who grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy, my son has enjoyed the prequels and his Star War legos. I can see this continuing for the next generation as well.

No doubt. my son LOVES star wars and he's 5. It will go 1 more generation for sure. The amount of costumes on Halloween should be a good indicator.
