What is "Show your Disney Side"?

I've seen dozens of commercials promoting it, but they never actually explain WHAT the promotion entails.

IS there anything extra going on at the parks?

Well, They could have gone with The Year of A Million Complaints (due to MyMagic + & Rapid Fill Mugs)...So they just distracted it by taking the Star Wars "Side" Idea and Disney-fying it..

I got a survey in my email from WDW regarding my upcoming trip and my interaction with the My Disney Experience, magic bands, etc. They wanted to know why I had not linked park tickets to my reservation. I told them that we were not getting park tickets because they were too expensive and that we do NOT want to reserve rides and eating times in advance and that they had taken the fun out of being spontaneous. We do still plan on going, but with the room only discount. We plan on visiting DTD, boardwalk, mini-put, Busch Gardens, etc. A few years ago, if someone would have told us we would go to WDW and NOT go to the parks, I would have told them they were crazy, but now I'm excited to try other things.

I find it insane that they are doing NOTHING. Except for rolling out a commercial every single break during the football game on Sunday! For being a whole bunch of nothing they sure are promoting the hell out of it!!

I actually like this promotion because it's subtle. It's not pointless and gaudy like Year of Million and Let the Memories Begin. I don't like when promotions become too intrusive towards the theming of the parks (eg. BAH, LTMB Signs)

It's subtle, that's true, but, it also has a hidden message in it. That message is for you to entertain yourself. Don't wait for Disney to provide all your emotion. Disney, with a couple of small exceptions, is not offering anything new and have removed a lot of the good old stuff, so go with your fantasies because they will not be providing any new ones this year.

And that's the reason I don't like this promo. I only "liked" it because it wasn't intrusive.

Just to clarify they are portraying Minnie as Miley Cyrus, Jessie with Murderous eyes, Captain Hook or guy you don't want to meet in a dark alley, and..Snooww White? Eh whatever... The article about it is here.http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...-series-features-disney-character-lookalikes/

I agree with that. For all the complaining we've done over the years about tacky banners on the train station, gaudy decorations on the castle or monorails, or giant hats and Spaceship Earth wands, for once it sounds like we'll be spared all this stuff and can simply enjoy the parks being allowed to be themselves.

I gotta ask why you would stay on Disney property if you're not going to the parks. You could get a much nicer hotel room for much less, I'm certain, so there's no benefit to staying on property.

But it's really not a promotion in the true sense of the word. It doesn't make people want to go this year as opposed to the next because of something special.
