Whispering Canyon Café or Kona Café (Breakfast)

Hi everyone. Wanted to get some opinions on which you would recommend for breakfast – Whispering Canyon or Kona Café? This will be for the last morning of our trip, and we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Assuming Magical Express really leaves 3 hours before flight, we’ll probably need to be on the bus by 11AM, so timing is a factor. Is the Tonga Toast worth the trip to the Poly? Two adults, no kids, but we like lively atmospheres, so the loudness of WCC is not a concern.

Having had breakfast at both places, I would definitely return to Kona cafe. Not so sure I need to go back to Whispering Lodge. Not that it wasn't good food, just that I enjoyed Kona much better.

Timing might be an issue for you, but aside from that, Kona gets my vote.

Hi I just got back today and had breakfast for my final morn this morning at Kona. I always have this traditionally as I wait for Magic Express because the Macadamia Nut Pancakes are perfection. Service is always excellent because many have been at this location for a very loyal length of time. It also gives me the chance for a final goodbye to the MK. Today I took the boat over to wander thru the new DVC Grand Floridian Villas. So it was really sad to leave.

WCC and Kona are both fine places to eat, but I wouldn't travel to one over the other. If I were staying at WL, I'd absolutely eat at WCC. :)

Great question! I have been pondering the same thing. I am trying to figure out which hotel to stay at. Contemporary, WL, or Poly. I definitely want to try Kona and OHana next trip. Debating between OHana and Kona for breakfast. I would like to try WC but think I may do it another trip.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies. Overall, it seems like Kona is the winner. Even though it’s not quite as convenient as just going down to the lobby in our own hotel, I think taking the boats and monorail is part of the fun. I was also able to get an ADR at ‘Ohana for dinner the first night of our trip (Jan. 18), so that’s two meals in the Poly – maybe we should have just stayed there!

You might also want to know that they serve the Tonga Toast at Capt. Cook's. It is the same exact thing as Kona except the price is cheaper and it does not come with a side of strawberry sauce. Otherwise...identical.

I too have Ohana dinner on first night and a Kona breakfast for my next trip! Great minds think alike! (But I can't afford the Poly right now)
