A Snackish Lunch

So, I'd previously posted that we signed up for FP+ for BOG lunch. One of the perks, that will also speed up the process, is pre-ordering our meal. I'm just not sure what we should order. We have TS breakfast (8:05a at Crystal Palace) and early dinner (5:20p at 'Ohana) that day, so it's going to be a heavy duty food day. :hungry: Still, we want to experience BOG lunch (did dinner last trip)...meaning, we'll be doing a lot of sharing.

I think we're going to skip the kids menu altogether. DD4 still speaks of the Mickey Meatloaf and the macaroni marinara and calls it that "nasty chunky Mickey-meat with fake noodles." :hilarious: *side note - DD7 loved it* I am looking at the French Onion Soup and the Croque Monsieur. Assuming it's the same portion as dinner, I know it's a lot of soup and the sandwich look large. I think I'll skip desserts in favor of Dole Whips or some other tasty treat in the park.

Is the soup and the sandwich enough for a "snackish lunch" for 2 adults and 2 kids (7 and nearly 5) on fairly full TS food day? Or should I add one more entrée? And if so, which one? I love quinoa, but the braised pork also looks tasty.

The soup portion is not overly large, and the Croque is just a regular size grilled cheese and ham sandwich. You may want to add another entree. Both the roast beef and turkey sandwiches are on baguettes and can easily serve 2. They are both tasty.

My husband loves the braised pork:hungry:

OK, for us on O'hana day we eat light all day and save the tummy room for O'hana. I would never do ts breakfast, BOG lunch and then O'hana all in the same day, but that's just me...and I am a tightwad when it comes to dining anyway.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I too would skip the TS breakfast if your doing Ohana that day and do lunch around 10:30-11:30 so you hve plenty of time inbetween your early dinner at Ohana. Ohana is ALOT of food!!!! Also BOG is really good and I would not fully enjoy it if I had eaten a TS breakfast earlier as I would probably still be full. :)

Sounds like a 2nd entrée is in order. I think DH would appreciate it if I ordered the Croque and the pork, because I don't think anyone else in this house shares my love of quinoa.

It's OK...I think we all have our own Disney dining styles. While we prefer an early TS breakfast and a well timed TS dinner, we've had a few days in our last few trips where we've had days with 3 TS meals.:jawdrop: We won't be doing that this trip, but we do have 2 cakes involved in the mix (no shocker there:hilarious:) ...so that kind makes up for it.

It definitely is a lot of food, but we're also looking at it as hitting old faves for various celebrations and factoring in the kids' eating habits. DH and I would likely be fine with just breakfast and dinner, but the kids will likely start talking about food again around 10am...still amazes me that they're so tiny!

I really liked the french onion soup and the croque monsieur.

I got to try DH's soup at dinner last Nov and it was yummy!!! :hungry: With the way DH and the kids love sandwiches...maybe I should just order 2 of those and be one with it. hmmmmm....

Wow, three TS meals in one day. I can't even imagine, but dining for us is an extra, and not important part of the trip. We never plan our days around meals, and that works for us.

I really like bog for lunch. In just not sure you will be able to enjoy all your food that day especially ohana. That's alot of food in one day. We would prob eat that much in two or three days. Maybe you should consider skipping bf or skip bog. Just a thought. No matter what ENJOY!!!!

i found the turkey sandwich delicious and it is pretty large, half sandwich and fries would satisfy an adult. or you could split in four, get the soup, and see if you are allowed to get an extra side of the pomme frittes (french fries for us low brow type). i would think that would cover the four of you. think the girls would not object to turkey sandwich- pretty straight forward and not "nasty chunky" at all!

It is a lot of food, but the individual dining experiences were worth it to us and really help me keep our trips feeling more unique for DH. Ultimately, that's the beauty of a WDW vacay...you and I could have totally different vacations at the same destination and both be very happy. :)

Yup...definitely a lot of food, but still less than some of our 3 meal days on previous trips. What's funny...we may actually be pretty hungry at some point in all of this. Back in 2010, we had a day planned with Crystal Palace breakfast, CRT lunch and 'Ohana dinner. We wound up missing 'Ohana dinner b/c of massive monorail problems - which was not good b/c we were all starving. :hungry:

The girls love most sandwiches, so the turkey probably work for them too. Yes, we had some of those high brow pommes frites for dinner last trip...

Fancy. :hilarious:
