Yeah, I used to body surf growing up in SoCal but a near-drowning pretty much ended my interest in doing that type of stuff anymore.

Title says it all. The Mrs. has been wanting to learn how to surf so I got her booked for the 6:45 am class on September 16th. Have any of you done it and if so what was your experience?

It's been a long time but it was a great experience. They made it easy on everybody by giving us the beginners boards. They were thicker and a lot more stable. Everyone in the group got up relatively quick. Every wave is perfect and consistent so way easier to time than in the ocean. She will have a blast

My wife has been bugging me to swim with the Dolphins at Discovery Cove. I have not been able to swing it because of the price tag. It's her 50th this year so I did a few jobs and got the extra loot to get it done.
Surfing isn't her thing but I bet my daughter and son would enjoy this.

What was the cost and what are the age age restrictions?

Sorry, you come here looking for answers and all I have is questions!

ROFL...oddly enough shookie Im contemplating taking it back up after a 18 year break..I grew up on Daytona BEach practically with a surfboard in hand

Do it I say! As the saying goes, there's no time like the present.

Ahh Daytona Beach! We used vacation there every summer when I was growing up. We stayed at a hotel called La Playa. Those were some of my earliest and best memories of Florida (along with trips to WDW of course).

I didn't do any surfing but my parents would hold onto the sides of a tube and I would sit in and catch some mean waves....LOL...not quite the same I guess...hahaha...

I lost all interest in any kind of floating on the ocean activities after seeing JAWS, I love that movie but it almost completely ruined the ocean for me. I love the beach and I love the water, but I'm ALWAYS paranoid when I'm in it.

ROFL th eLa Playa is stil there albeit in a much different form..

The 26 mile stretch from Daytona to New Syrmna is called the Shark Bite Capital of the world..BUT the sharks are small generally 3-4 foot Spinner sharks..or sand Sharks. Saw a great hammerhead once in my years of surfing

Holy blast from the past Batman! Wow. I had no idea that was still standing.
I remember one year my older sister ( a lot older) surprised me with a trip to Florida and we stayed there.
Our room overlooked the Howard Johnson's restaurant next door. I got up early one morning and went out on the balcony.

What did I see? Starsky and Hutch's Gran Torino parked there. Blue cop light on the dash and all.
I was jumping up and down waking up my sister. I had to go meet them.
It ended up being one of the waitress's car. Her boyfriend apparently souped it up for her or something.
That was as bad as finding out Santa Claus wasn't real.

Alright, time to give @draybook his thread! Sorry man!

But how many times do you get up early for surfing lessons? :)

I would like to hear how this goes. I have always wanted to do this, but I am waiting until my son is old enough, so we can take the lesson together.

It just dawned on me his class starts at 6:45 am, so what time does he have to get up, what time does he have to be at the water park, and will Disney transportation be running at that earlier time?

Sorry guys, just now on lunch. The cost is $150 per person and includes tax but not park tickets. Of course you don't need those since it's preopening. As for age limit, I think it's around 7or 8? On the YouTube video you can see kids doing it.

Forgot to add that they have a viewing area for those who aren't surfing so everyone is together.
