So pixar is apparently doing a film called the good dinosaur in 2014,

That being said if this film is successful, (which Im guessing it will be) Maybe it could breathe some life back into dinoland usa over at animal kingdom. NOW I am not at all advocating that it replace dinosaur as that dark ride is amazing I AM however saying that it should replace those god awful carnival games and the primevil tilt a whirl (that whole area to be frank. Hopefully with a full fledged dark ride based on the film with another little c or d ticket to boot.

Before the "I would prefer something original" comment gets thrown in which yes I would like something like that too, unfortunately this isn't how Disney is operating their expansions stateside lately. I was just saying since the film is being done by pixar and hopefully will be great it could really give them some incentive to give that land some life.

Well it is bound to be better than Chester and Hester.

As would be a dentist office, a non-airconditioned classroom teaching advanced chemistry, and Expedition Earring: One Man's Earlobe.

And yes, keep movies and IP franchises out of DAK!

Lol I agree, I do prefer original ideas but if something can be done to give the bean counters a push to make that land something great instead of a cheap carnival I can handle it being an ip.

They need to go back to basics with the Dino Institute theme.

See the original plan was that the Dino Institute would be a cornerstone university-esque science center. They found a huge deposit of fossils at DAK and set up shop. Grad students came from around the country to work there, but eventually got bored and built their own roller coaster out of junked cars and spare parts (The Excavator).

Traces of this theme can still be found...Restaurant-osaurus in particular. It was originally the grad student's mess hall, and you can still see Dino Institute postings on the bulletin board there, as well as notes between friends.

The grad students are also fans of Office Space....

As well as just hanging out drinking beer on the roof.

But...budget cuts forced WDI to scale back the theme. Hence we get DinoLand USA being two distinct lands in one; The Dino Institute/University and the cheesy Chester and Hester's Route 66 sideshow.

I'm not against it as long as it fits. That being said, just because a movie stars a talking animal doesn't mean it should be plopped into AK.

I seriously wish they would change Dinosaur! back to Countdown to Extinction. I mean really, do people even know about that movie anymore? I don't recall it being that big to begin with.

the movie is going to be focused on dinosaurs not just a talking animal also was there any real difference between countdown to extinction and dinosaur?

I wasn't really thinking of the new Pixar movie when I posted that, just Disney movies in general. I never rode Dinosaur! as CTX so I don't know all the changes but I imagine the Iguanadon part was added in since he was the star of the movie.

You would think but it wasn't! the only thing changed was adding an iguanadon to the front of the ride instead of a triceratops here look! http://extinctdisney.com/AK/cte.htm other things were changed but that was gradually after a couple years but the major difference from countdown and dinosaur was merely just changing the name and adding aladar to the front of the ride! Also you should ride dinosaur its good probably not as good as it was when you rode it but still a fun ride!

That would be nice if they could spruce up the area with some new dinosaur stuff, although the area is okay as it is. Maybe they will bring back the roaming dinosaur. Wasn't his name Lucky?
