This might be a dumb question but what does it mean when you have points?

I suspect you are referring to the "how many points do you have?" threads.

That is referring to DVC, the Disney Vacation Club, where you accrue (or rent from others) points which can be applied to your future trip.

Also, you can be a "new member", "member", "active member" or "well known member" depending on how many points you have.
