Rebooked Resort...kinda sad

I was really hoping the room discounts of the summer would be repeated for September, but sadly...it did not turn out as I would have liked. After much consideration, I have cancelled our reservation at the Contemporary and rebooked us into Wilderness Lodge. I know...boo hoo. Still, I don't have the fondest room and transportation memories from our last stay at WL so I'm kind of bummed out.

Ultimately, the kids will be thrilled that I got a bunk bed room and this is DH s favorite resort, so theyll be happy. I just need help getting psyched. I love the common areas, but hopefully all of the WL fans on here can help me get more excited about this as a whole.

And WL fans such as yourself would be great "woo-hooers" for people like me. I don't even know what special requests I want to put in for this room. Last time at WL I just wanted a standard room in a quiet area... No clue what to ask for with woods view bunk bed.

MK side & highest floor possible...at least that way you might see some fireworks, if you're in the room at night...

Sorry about your discount downer! I guess knowing how thrilled your kids will be to be staying at the WL should help pick you up a bit. While the WL is our favorite resort, we too have had a room issue or two. Don't hesitate to both put your specific room request on your reservation and ask for a different room upon check-in if possible. I think we need a thread just for those of us with upcoming trips to the WL so we can "woo-hoo" each other.
Woohoo! Lol

The beginning of the official Woo Hoo, we're going to the WL club! :D

WOO HOO!!! And I am reminded of one silver lining aspect...one of the few things I don't like at Contemporary = the pool, but I really like WL's pool. :)

Hoping your 2 years speeds by for you! :)

How about Whispering Canyon Cafe? Do you like eating there? or... Artist Point? or the geyser... the beauty of the lobby...:)

Not big fans of WCC, but I have wanted to try Artist Point. I am currently booked at 'Ohana one night, but might switch off to WL considering the change in lodging. The lobby is most definitely pretty :)

@HouCuseChickie what about the AAA discount? Isn't it 15%???? I am not certain because I do not have AAA but I thought I read on a thread that AAA discounted 15%.

I didn't think they could combine them. I'd have to call them to check to confirm though b/c if they could...then it could be worth it. I just haven't had much luck working with AAA on Disney trips...still, I have to call about some other things anyway, so it can't hurt to check.

I am so sad for you @HouCuseChickie I know you really wanted to stay there. I was hoping if AAA was a 15% discount it would be better than 5%. @coachwnh said it varies so maybe it will be good???

I really do appreciate it. :) I might qualify for the 20% off discount in the garden wing or with a bay lake view and the AAA might be more than the current discount for the MK facing room, so it would be worth a call to see. Just having a bit of a cost epiphany and kind of angered that they've once again lowered the discounts on the most expensive resorts. Of course if I switched to August for my actual bday we would have been good, but oh well. All's good.

@HouCuseChickie will you be having any of those deliciously looking special cakes while our vacations are overlapping? ;)

Possibly as many as 3!!! Hence, why the price difference is making me reconsider. Cake 1 is on the morning of Sept 21st...Cake 2 the evening of Sept 22nd...and maybe, just maybe - a mini cake the morning of Sept 22nd.

You need help getting psyched to stay in a DELUXE hotel? Oh how I'd love to have your problem!

I know...hence the "boo hoo" in my initial post. I know it's not a serious problem...but just some sadness.

I guess "sad" might not have been the best word. Maybe "disappointing" would have been better...but most people can understand the OP's feelings and thought process.

I can't stand the Contemporary/BLT and feel for her. :)

She wants to go there and has to give it up. Not one of life's bigger tragedies, but still.

It's funny you say that...one of my WL loving friends here is all happy it's worked out this way b/c she too is not exactly a fan of the Contemporary. Her words, "Awesome! Now I can live vicariously through you come trip time!" :D

And that's just it...I know it's not the end of the world...just disappointing. Lots of people share on here... all kinds of trip planning issues and feelings ...and I was just venting from that angle.

I've never stayed at Coronado, but my brother has...said it was nice. :) Congrats and have a blast on your honeymoon!!!

I know my issues is far from catastrophic, but when you've got your favorites and fears over past experiences...sometimes you just need to vent. We'd probably be staying offsite if it came down to a value...just b/c double beds is one of the deal breakers for us. It's really too bad b/c I think the kids would totally enjoy the decor, but sleep quality has to come first.
