Rebooked Resort...kinda sad

I was really hoping the room discounts of the summer would be repeated for September, but sadly...it did not turn out as I would have liked. After much consideration, I have cancelled our reservation at the Contemporary and rebooked us into Wilderness Lodge. I know...boo hoo. Still, I don't have the fondest room and transportation memories from our last stay at WL so I'm kind of bummed out.

Ultimately, the kids will be thrilled that I got a bunk bed room and this is DH s favorite resort, so theyll be happy. I just need help getting psyched. I love the common areas, but hopefully all of the WL fans on here can help me get more excited about this as a whole.

Sorry about your discount downer! I guess knowing how thrilled your kids will be to be staying at the WL should help pick you up a bit. While the WL is our favorite resort, we too have had a room issue or two. Don't hesitate to both put your specific room request on your reservation and ask for a different room upon check-in if possible. I think we need a thread just for those of us with upcoming trips to the WL so we can "woo-hoo" each other.

Someone mentioned that the general public discount for September 2-25 was going to start on Thursday, May 9th...would this not help?

But if you want some pixie dust about WL, I'll help. Don't hold onto the bad room and transportation memories. Who knows, this time you could have great experiences. And, although I grew up north of Houston midst the pine trees (and would be perfectly fine not being around one ever again), it's so pretty at WL.

It's the same discount...I'm a Disney Visa cardholder, so I was just able to book a few days before the general public. Ultimately, it was a measly 5% off my MK view room on night 1 ... and then possibly 20% off my garden view room the rest of the time...assuming that even qualified seeing as how it specified standard only (yet those are almost never available). So 30% off at WL seemed like the better choice.

And WL fans such as yourself would be great "woo-hooers" for people like me. I don't even know what special requests I want to put in for this room. Last time at WL I just wanted a standard room in a quiet area... No clue what to ask for with woods view bunk bed.

I think my other letdown with WL is that we've stayed at the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone, so I couldn't get it out of my head. Still... Must make new memories. What's funny...I'm currently south of Houston and have fairly young trees.

Request a room on the 5th floor facing the MK. If you prefer to be closer to an elevator or the food court, you might want to request that as well.

There are rooms available that give you a decent view of the MK fireworks every night. I'll have to check with my DW who booked our room there to find out which numbers.
