Two weeks to trip and nervous

My husband and I are now two weeks out to take our precious 2 1/2 year old daughter to Disney for a week. I am very nervous now with the tragedy happening in Boston and now with reading here about any kind of tour groups potentially obnoxious behavior sets my teeth on edge. :(

What do you think I can do to get ready and put the magic back in a long awaited trip? This is the first time she's ever been in a crowded situation and she's so young I just want things to be the best that they can be for her.

Thanks for your helpful input.

First of all you need to show that you are not concerned and stress free. Kids can pick up on any type of anxiety and will feed off your temperament. Just enjoy it and don't worry about large crowds it wont be so bad in two weeks. That is when I will be there as well.
Yes just breathe and relax! I know it's hard but you have to do it for your dd!

I was very excited and in the Disney bubble (safe at 2nd home feeling) until today. Now I have an image of a group of 50 sweaty, deodorant-free people smoking outside of the smoking area and then jumping in line in front of me while we have waited 20 minutes to ride Dumbo. Oh my....

Don't worry! Really, these things could happen anywhere, unfortunately. I would feel safer at Disney than many places. At least there are bag checks.

We are going the end of next week, and I am not worried at all! Just relax and enjoy yourself, the crowds should be lower and hopefully it won't be too hot yet! But even with that just take it easy. You know we have been at WDW when some of the large tour groups were there and we never had any problems at all. I bet you will have an awesome time!

We will be arriving in two weeks also. Having been several times in May, we have never encountered the smelly/obnoxious large tour groups you may be concerned about. You may find many smaller groups of local schoolchildren (middle school and younger) who are on class field trips. These groups are usually well-chaperoned.

Relax and enjoy your daughter's first visit!

you are in greater danger in your local mall. you know how many workplace and mall shootings there are? now how many have there been at DisneyWorld?
chill, relax, enjoy
you are safer there than anywhere else- or at least as safe.
stop dwelling and get your mind into planning- that should distract you

Goin' there with all that on your shoulders only means one thing...the terrorists win...again.
And yes, I ALSO mean the kind of terrorists that march around WDW acting like they own it.
Plus, you're just NOT gonna' have a Magical trip and make those Magical memories for yourselves and, ESPECIALLY, for your Disney Daughter.
Sorry, but there's ONE place I'm NOT gonna' worry about ANYTHING (and I'm talkin' about screwed up ADR's, missed FastPasses, etc.), and that place is WALT DISNEY WORLD...! :)

luv's Toddler Tips:

1. Don't make the child eat if they are hot and worked up. Kids who never barf frequently do so at WDW after mom makes them eat.

2. If the child is exhausted, let them sleep. In a bed.

3. If the child is afraid of the characters, let it go. Don't terrify you toddler because you dreamed of getting a picture of them with your favorite character, lol.

So, there's that.

Worrying helps nothing. It won't make you have a better trip. It will only cause you grief. So, just don't. Que sera, sera. :)

Just considering the odds of an issue occurring to your family on your trip are in your favor.

We are one of the most safe countries in the world and I am sure Disney is very concerned about safety. Even one minor incident could hurt their profits greatly so I am sure they are on it.

Have a safe and fun trip! Be street smart but do not stress!

Sounds like you need a bottle of Risperidone over there...
