Would like some info on the motorized scooters at disney. Can you reserve one ahead on time. or just in the park when you get there. Also does anyone know how much they cost.

My parents always rented w/ an outside company. I think it was Sunshine Scooters? I would google it. It's hassle free and my parents really benefited from it. I can't recall the cost, but I think it came out to about 40$ a day. It's a bit cheaper than getting one at the parks. Plus, you have it wherever you go especially getting around the resorts as well.:)

^^^you should have resisted.i have not been to the world recently due to my health and walking all day is very painful for me. I have decided I am not going to give up something I love to do and let my health keep me back. Therefore I must plan on using something to get around the parks for a day or so at the end or I will be spending it on bed in my room. your humor is not apprciated

His comment was not a dig at you. Don't take it personal. He meant that any time, ANY time, scooters are brought up the thread turns into a crossfire situation. Lighten up.

They do have a speed governor. No matter how slow you make it, some will still complain. If you make it too slow, people would complain that they are too slow and they are getting in the way.

Just be thankful that you are able to walk on your own.

I agree people don't get how it feels when just walking can stop you from doing a lo of things. I have been bumped and run over by others using the scooters but I still am respectful. Glad I was as I will be one using it and being as careful as possible of people around me.

BTW the same can be said for the parents with strollers who think they are the only ones in WDW!!!

I sure hope you have a great time! I have major sciatica issues, and do my best to keep moving. (I rest when I can and do stretches) but I am sure this pales in comparison with your issues. Although I have never needed to order a motorized scooter, I just wanted to wish you a wonderful vacation! :)

Thank you soo much. Sciatica can be pretty bad and I certainly know where you are coming from. Last trip in 2007 I found I had to sit almost every hour to rest. I do not want to have to do that this time. I really do not want to order a scooter but I think I will be fooling myself and my body will pay the price after a day or two. Soi will endure the looks when I get up from scooter and appear to be normal to the public and go about enjoying my favorite place on earth

You do whatever you need to do, to enjoy your vacation, despite looks or opinions. I think it's terrific you are planning ahead to make the most of your Disney visit!!! I would definately say, rent the scooter, use it whenever you need to, take care of you!! Just be healthy :) WIshing you a very magical vacation!!

and I wish it didn't turn into a crossfire situation, but you are right. However, anyone in a scooter, is judged, and thats just sad, for those who really need it. To admit you need one, is another story. I don't need a scooter... yet... but every time I see someone who does use one?? I wish them well. This scooter issue is close to my heart.. I just wish we weren't all so judgemental, and in the same vein, wish alot didn't abuse it. Does that make sense?

My mother used them on her last trip. She had a hard time driving it. Try to practice a bit, if you can.

And be prepared for everything to take much longer than normal. People walk in front of you and stop suddenly...and once you're stopped, everyone walks in front of you!

So, pack some extra patience in the suitcase.

Also, get to the fireworks spots early. They go fast.
