How do I take on the Magic Kingdom?

Hey guys! We leave early Wednesday morning for our trip to Disney World! We are staying 1/10-4/17 at AoA- Cars suite. I am super excited because we haven't been in a little over 4 years and each day before has been dragging on because i can't wait anymore! Anyways, I was thinking about how i was going to make my way through completing Magic Kingdom and getting what we want done and I have no clue whatsoever. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea as to what they do when tackling Magic Kingdom, it would be very helpful. It would be even better if someone would tell me what to do in order to get the most done including tips and what lands to start in. Anything is helpful really, I just am really Stressed about MK. (I also need some fastpass tips on when and where to get them) Keep in mind I will be spending 2 1/2 days of my trip in MK and will be wanting to spend most our time in Fantastland and tomorrowland. We also plan to go on peter pans flight, space mountain, splash mountain (this is my first time ever on splash :) )pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and buzz Lightyear at least 2 times and most of them 3. I really need some advice and I have 6 days to come up with some sort of idea of what im going to do so I would really appreciate help from you guys, Thanks!!

only advice I have is to give one person FP detail and be organized at where you'll meet up after getting them.

also, if Enchanted tales with Belle is a priority for your family, hit that first thing in the morning, perhaps grabbing a FP to Peter pan's Flight on the way.

We improvised a bunch based on the disney app's wait times. Sometimes we'd run to Adventureland for POTC and sometimes back to HM based on those times. It seemed to work for us, but we're pretty willing to lay down some footprints.

I'd go to touringplans.com, pony up the $12 (less if you have an Unofficial Guide), and create a plan. You check off what time you're arriving and what you want to do. It spits out a plan to help you get as much done in as short a time as possible.

Well worth the $12, IMO.

Best advise I have, is do not be late. Usually that first hour you can hammer out a lot without having to use fastpass. Then once the the crowds start to get bad use that fastpass wisely. 2 1/2 days should be more than enough.

Easy Peasy dude. Get there as early as possible ( rope drop ) and just go with the flow..This is the only park that I never see anyone running to get to an attraction, example. HS...TSMM..TOT.. Or Epcot...Soarin & Mission Space..Heres a tip..Tour MK in a retrograde direction..Start in Tomorrow Land and walk anti clockwise..;)

One Little Spark...
The only Fast Pass I would say you must get, based on your list, is Peter Pan. The line gets long there, and stays long. You can find the machines for PP right outside of the ride exit.

Space Moutain and Splash Mountain are nice with fast passes, but their queues aren't horrid either. I would also recommend getting a fast pass for Big Thunder Mountain. You can find those machines to the left of the Big Thunder Mountain entrance.

The Splash FP machines are off to the right of the entrance to the queue, down at the bottom of the hill. This is also the general area where Woody comes out for a meet and greet.

Space FP machines are located to the left of the queue entrance.

The only FP machines that are hard to find are the Pooh FP machines, which are not near the ride. Rather, they are over by Philharmagic.

I tend to go straight back when entering the park at rope drop, and then work the park from front to back, if I'm trying to do it all (or most of it) in one day.

You should also check and see if there are any morning / evening EM hours during your stay. These are great times to hit up rides that generally have longer lines.

Also, staying at AoA, remember you can use the AoA or the Pop busses to get to and from your hotel, so after a long day, if you see a Pop bus loading, and no AoA bus in site, don't hesitate to hop on. A quick walk across the bridge will bring you back to your hotel.

Ok, you're excited, time to calm down some :P

First off, the park is going to be there, it's not going anywhere, you have 2.5 days in the MK, so no need to rush. Asking everyone on here for a detailed list of what to do, when to do it and how to do it is like asking everyone for instructions on how to make Thanksgiving dinner... You're gonna get 5000 ways to do the same thing, that everyone will argue over, saying that their way is the best.

You have a list of things that you want to accomplish in your original post. That's a start. I would sit down now, download a park map, and start charting a GENERAL course. Ride closures (be it refurb or the ride is just down for a certain time), tour groups, and WEATHER are going to possibly weigh in on how you do everything. You have said you want to do the different lands, ok, good, rank them and go from there. Fastpasses are your friend, as well as an enemy. I would say to only get the FP's for rides that you're going to need them for. There are plenty of rides that utilize FPs that you don't necessarily need to have one for.

As for the website that someone else said that costs you money to make a plan... Dump it... If you can organize on paper, you don't need to pay a website for something that is free (sounds like that is a cheap bump for someone's personal business).

Take advantage of any Extra Hours, whether they are morning or night, and think about that in your plans. If you're not wanting to watch Wishes! from infront of the castle for a nighttime EMH, run and hit up as many rides as you can. While people are watching the fireworks, lines are typically low. Dumbo during Wishes! is awesome. The HM at night is fun too, totally different atmosphere than the daytime.

I wouldn't go commando mode and try to plan out every second, but make a checklist and put down the things you want to do. As you do them, check them off. You can add or subtract from the list.

Right now, like I said, just download a park map for free, study it, and just start making a plan. You can do it!!!

It'll be interesting though to see how many people rank everything and say their way is the best to do it LOL!!!!
Just remember, if we all did the parks the same way, there'd be a lot of open rides because everyone would be waiting for the same thing!!!!

I use EMH and hit Dumbo, Space, Winnie, Peter, Buzz
I also use the Unofficial Guide's Touring Plans.
Allow for breaks, distractions, diversions, snacks, resting feet!

POTC and Haunted are one of those rides that one moment you see a 60-90 wait...pass by again and it's 20 mins..so you hit the majors first to avoid long wait times...

and get a phone app...like lines

Arrive at rope drop. We always walk down the left side of Main Street, and turn left and go past the Crystal Palace and on over the bridge to Adventureland and systematically hit of all the attractions as you come to them. Grab a FP for Ariel's ride. If there is more then a 30 minute wait for an attraction, pass it up for now and either come back later when you've covered the park or return on your 2nd day. We can usually hit all the highlights and be back up on Main Street by about 3:00. (of course, we always go in the winter) If you plan to see the parade tho, be sure and get your spot by at least 40 minutes ahead of time. I've found that if I stop in a store in the park and see something I like, I buy it then and there to save time later. We try to not zig zag all around the park. It wastes time. You can always get a FP or return later or next time. You don't need a tour book for planning. Pick up a map on the way in for reference and go.

Get to the parks at opening time. Whatever your priority is (Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mtn, Under the Sea, Peter Pan's Flight, Enchanted Story time with Belle)head there first and grab a FP for one of the other above attractions on your way there.

During the day - when most things have longer waits - see less popular attractions (if they interest you) such as Enchanted Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents, etc...And make sure to watch your FP times - as soon as you're able to get another one...get one!

Also - stay late! After Wishes most people flood out of the parks and you will be able to walk on a lot of stuff. We used this method (early mornings, FPs and late nights) to tackle Magic Kingdom during Spring Break hours so it definitely works!
