Hi everyone

As we are getting close now, only four weeks out, I've printed off my reservations. Glancing through it, what I thought was a regular dinner reservation at Flying Fish shows up as Flying Fish Chefs Tasting Wine Dinner. What is that all about? Not that I object to a glass or two of wine, but my friend doesn't drink at all so it would be rather pointless. We are on the regular Dining Plan.

Can anyone throw any light on this please?

Here's Disney's description and a link to the page. I've seen folks sitting at the chef's counter before but thought it was either only for larger parties (like your typical chef's table) or some kind of arranged event. Sounds like a lot of fun but more than just a glass or two. Not sure if Disney can "adjust the prix fixe" for non-drinkers.

Experience the Chef's Tasting Wine Dinner for a savory 5-course prix fixe menu with expertly chosen wines.
Take a seat at the chef’s counter, directly in front of the onstage kitchen, and interact with the talented culinary team preparing the evening’s specialties.
The Chef’s Tasting Menu changes daily but may include such delicacies as miso-cured yellowfin tuna with shirred quail egg or ginger-laced Maine lobster ravioli.
Dinner seatings for this experience—which is designed for Guests 10 years of age and up—are at 5:45 PM and 8:15 PM, Sunday through Thursday. Groups of up to 6 can be accommodated and reservations must be made at least one day in advance.

I get that all of the time when I book there. Keep an eye on it, because it usually reverts to a regular reservation as you get closer to your vacation. This always happens to me when I book there and I don't know why.

That is re-assuring! We haven't been before so have no past experience. Thanks for the info :)

I think it's a glitch. I will book a normal dinner and then, out of the blue, the reservation shows up as the Chef's Tasting. I once cancelled a Chef's Dinner and rescheduled a normal dinner and got the Chef's Tasting again! But definitely keep an eye on it, if it doesn't change, call WDW.

Yes, definately. Or we could call in when we arrive at WDW as it's on our 4th day. Sounds like it copuld be ok by then though. Thanks again.

The same thing happened to us on our last visit. We called the dining hotline to clarify and were told it's a known glitch.

OP, while your answer has already been given to you, I'll just throw in my 2 cents incase anyone else has this issue. The Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner runs about $157 or so per person (at least as of October '11 when we did this) which is paid at the time the reservation is made. Also, there are only 2 sittings for this per night, 5:45 and 8:15. If you didn't pay the $157 per person at the time of booking or your ADR is not for 5:45 or 8:15, it is just a glich and is nothing to worry about (as others have said).

Just as a side note, the Chef's Wine Tasting Dinner is a really nice experience for those who are interested.

Thanks for the info, very interesting. Don't think it would really be for me though, I'm too tight!
