So here am I,with my cup of fresh Columbian coffee reading reviews on Debs All Ears. And yet again the same restaurants are still getting poor reviews, such as Hollywood & Vine, ABC, and Planet Hollywood.Question is why? Surely Disney have their own food critics,or do I have to send our Gordon Ramsey to fix this problem..There is a chain group of Indian restaurants here in the UK.They started off in Bradford ( England ) I believe, but have around 9 or 10 in the UK and have just recently opened up their first in Scotland ( Glasgow ) The quality, service, etc is superior to anything I have came across, and I was informed by a friend who writes in a national newspaper, that they send their own food critics, once a month, unannounced,to make sure the standards are kept this way.So to my thread.Do Disney have their food critics checking on restaurants that are way below par.? Just curious.Maybe our friend Master Yoda, could fling some light into this subject.o.O

I don’t know why Disney doesn’t do something about the awful restaurants could it be that they are renting space at Disney and not under their control? The Hollywood Brown Derby was on a downward spiral but from what I read it is making a comeback.
As for Gordon Ramsey please keep him along with Jamie Oliver and Robert Irvine, their angry, Lenny Henry “Chef’ act, gets very tiresome after a while.

I like Hollywood & Vine...but Planet Hollywood is not Disney owned, so they may have limited control I imagine. I think Hollywood Planet is way over-rated and the last time I was there...two hour wait and lousy, loust service. I wouldn't go there if it was free. Even when the CMs at the resort gave me vouchers for HP...I gave them right back...

Agree..Typically Ramsey is a foul mouthed Scotsman. But Jamie I do like. His cooking style is easy to follow and I loved his tour of America.Tho his show on obesity in the states was an eye opener for the school/college type food.

I have to assume the Disney does know that they have some guest issues with some locations and it usually is simple to find out which restaurant has the most issue by counting how many guests served. On the other hand Disney serves so many people and locations like H & V are always completely booked then why spend money and time fixing something that people will still seem spend money on. This same thing carries into the same debate we see here often about prices going up and services/quality going down. Nothing will change unless people stop spending money on it. I do however want to add that many years ago I did like H & V and would eat there on occasion. The biggest deterrent for me was the characters. I am not a big fan of character dining and I feel the food quality has diminished quite a bit over the past 10+ years. The ABC Commisary seems to suffer from location issues along with an odd selection of menu options. I like the Commisary because it is quiet and indoors.

Planet Hollywood really baffles me. They are an independantly owned restaurant and when I have been there (only twice) they have been maybe 1/2 full at best. You would think they would read there reviews more often and do a better job filling seats to make more money. It can't be cheap for them to lease from Disney. I like the reviews also was not impressed with the food or service.

I believe Disney does troll these boards. I am quite sure they are interested with what we have to say...and if there is enough chatter...I believe they would do something about it...

hey, maybe you're right...the quality has gone down at Hollywood & Vine...haven't eaten there in 2 years

AWFUL!!! I don't even expect the place to be half as good as my cooking but between the service and "food" I'm never ever going back!

I do not understand where this comes from. I have not been back in quite a few years now, but it does not seem to be as bad as you make it out to be. H & V certainly is not the best restaurant in WDW, but it is better than hitting a Ponderosa, Golden Corral or a lot of restaurants on I-Drive for sure.

I haven't eaten there in about 5 years, so I really cannot be a judge of their food today.

Last time we were @ WDW we ate at 50's Prime Time and we were very disappointed. They had changed to the combined lunch/dinner menu and removed quite a few things from the menu to reduce cost and to me they reduced quality and removed my favorites (Uncle Charlies Tuna). Also our server was not nearly as good as the ones we had in the past. She just did not seem to care and want to play the part. Very disappointing.:(

Never been to H&V but, I'll never go back to Planet Hollywood! We had reservations, still had to wait to get seated, & there was hardly anyone there! Food was below par & service was terrible! That was in 09' so, it's not a recent visit but, I won't be back!
