View from the balcony...

At SSR this past Sept. we had an amazing view of DTD from the balcony and I spent several evenings and mornings hanging out there just enjoying the view.
I know many here just use the room to sleep and bathe between parks, but if you value resort time and relaxation, how important is view to you?

The only times I've stayed in Deluxe resorts, I was on the ground floor with patios, so the views weren't THAT great. And I was actually slightly nervous to open the sliding door at WL because I'm terrified of spiders... don't judge ;) I spent my early morning coffee quiet time in the gorgeous lobby.

At the Beach Club, we were in the back of the resort, must have been right behind Future World. I could hear the morning Epcot announcements and the Innoventions loop from the patio... it was a great place to spend the early morning while waiting for my nephew to wake the heck up.
I HATE spiders, and never saw really big ones at Disney, but I always bring a can of hairspray with me... kills spiders on contact, and they look so stylish!!! No judging here, I feel the same way!!

I've never seen any big ones in WDW either, but I've heard some stories... And there were those big bushes right outside the patio... I wasn't chancing it, haha.

I can't blame you, but believe me I have never seen them, yet sat out on the balcony MANY times with the hairspray in my lap LOL... Why take chances?!?!?! LOL

It's funny, it's bad spider stories at the Poly that have me scared of staying there. I honestly don't know if I could stay at WL in the warmer months. After my years in FL...I know what lurks in the trees and in the ground...and it's some SCARY stuff. EEK!

That's what finally convinced me I don't want to move to Florida after all :p

After years of staying at the Poly, Ive never seen huge spiders, but always had my hairspray! LOL Trust me, if I did?? (or if I do at WL) Ill pick up that phone to housekeeping, while spraying everything in my reach with hairspray If a spider is near, no one will escape the hairspray wrath!! LOL

I've read several stories of balcony infestations. OK- can't talk much about it or I'll start freaking myself out, but it was the kind of stuff nightmares are made of. It was extreme enough that all of these people had to change rooms. I know it's the exception and not the rule, but man- that would be my luck to get the spider room.

I've never really cared about the view from my room since I'm usually on the go the whole time I'm at WDW. But, I stayed at the Dolphin last year and I somehow scored a king room at the end of the hall with a great balcony and view of the water. It was obstructed a bit by trees, but I didn't mind. It seemed private. Since I had such a great balcony I felt I just had to sit there a while and enjoy the view while sippin' some wine.:D

We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Orange Lake and our "views" were AWESOME. We were in a 2 bedroom villa, so ground level. But we had a HUGE amount of running space for the kids and then a gorgeous lake behind with palm trees around it. It was perfect to just sit and watch the little frogs, lizards, the cranes that would come to our door every morning...lol

We too have stayed at Orange Lake and it is a beautiful area. Our view there was of the golf course.
Lots of nice pools and lazy river at Orange Lake. Got it through an RCI exchange.

I have two friends who both own a week at Orange Lake and both love it. You can pick one up quite cheap on the resale market, which is what they did. We thought about purchasing one but I don't like being tied down to a certain week and like to stay in the magic...that's why we bought DVC.:D
