Ok..Just googled Black 47.. No way could we play any of their material.Unless Ive read it wrong.They are a Celtic band with Irish republican views and sympathetic songs...Unfortunately our country is very bigoted and the Protestant V Roman Catholic thing will never cease.Every week the news has some conflict of fighting in Ireland.So if we were to play a tribute to any of their songs,it would be my last gig.We played at a 50th birthday party,but it was fancy dress.One dude turned up as Adolf Hitler,full uniform and wearing the wee moustache, swastikas and all. Guess what.? My German bass player didn't find it funny.( he's also of Jewish faith ) Exit,stage left.

I like their drinking songs! And like they used to say on bandstand it's got a good beat and I can dance to it! Funny thing I discovered their music in an Scotish -American pub!

Hmmm.Drinking songs.I don't know about that,tho songs about gun running to the IRA,and dedication to Bobby Sands & John Connolly & Vinegar Hill.Theres no way I'am wearing a flak jacket on stage,folk will think were NCIS.

Columbian coffee with a dash of cognac makes a nice wake up call,on a bitter cold Scottish morning.Even the sheep are wearing wooly coats.Brrrrr.
