Do you think Walt Disney World is running out room?

There is actually not as much usuable land available as you might think especially since a lot of it set asside for conservation. A good place to read about this is in the RCID Comprehensive Plan 2020. You can find maps in the plan that show the usuable land. The plan does allow for at least 1 more major park and 2 minor park like water parks.

Thanks for the link! I'll have to check out the link when I get home. I do think it's quite nice that they set aside some land for conservation.

The land is roughly 1/3 built. 1/3 is reserved for "natural" space. The other 1/3 can be built. This isn't based on map analysis but it's the rough way the executives view the land.

They have a lot of land there. However, it is getting to be unusable. I would not be at all surprised if Disney is purchasing large quantities of land elsewhere. I am sure they would love to have something more centrally located in the midwest. It wouldn't be the size of WDW, but 1-2 parks would not surprise me one bit.

I'm wondering if Orlando is now "tapped out" as far as mgmt is concerned. In other words, with 4 parks, 2 water parks and however many resorts, has the profit been maximized for the week long vacation model? I'm very curious about this. I'm sure these conversations take place ad nauseum in the innards of the WDC giant.

Another thought - how would the 5th park support itself? Can you fit in 5 parks into a week long vacation?

I don't think we'll see another park or large expansion in the near future, if at all. Based on the difficulty in maintaining the current infrastructure, I just can't see how they could add anything new without sacrificing profit on some other part of the resort. I hope I'm wrong.

Problem is, they've lost 2-3 days (in some cases, more) to Universal.

I don't think there is likely that Disney would purchase large quantities of land somewhere else that isn't in Florida or California for doing a theme park in the United States from a business standpoint.

The problem would be the third park would be taking away attendance to an extent. If the third park is located near the Midwest, people from Canada would be going there instead of WDW for their Disney fix since it would be cheaper for them to fly unless they have plans for going to other theme parks in Central Florida besides going to Disney. People from the Midwest also would be more likely go to that park instead of WDW if it is a Disney only trip.

You do know it is very cheap to fly to Florida from Canada, especially if you do not mind driving 1 hour to places like Buffalo.

Besides I like driving, 20 hour drive is not a big drive to me but I hate the way I am treated at airports.

Is Disney opens a park I think they want some place where you have no snow.

Adding a 4th park hasn't added extra days to the average guest. It just decreases the amount of time one spends in each park. As far as adding land, unfortunately, they have been driving in reverse on this (de-annexing land first for Celebration then Four Seasons & Golden Oak).+
