We bought one of these years ago and it was fun but pretty repetitive pretty quickly.

What ever happened to them?

Do they still sell them/will mine still work?

I heard that they were going to roll it out to other characters with pal pooh being the next in line but It seems like they just abandoned ship.

It was part of the grander scheme that is now affectionately known as: "Limited Time Magic!" ;)

On a more relative note: I do remember that item, and thinking to myself after my first daughter was born, "Next time we go to WDW, I'm going to get one." But alas, by the time we went back, My Pal Mickey was no longer in production :(. I'd be curious to hear if they still work while in MK?!

They haven't sold that in years. I haven't seen one in forever!

I don't know if they still work or not. Guess you could bring it and see...if you want.

I heard he took off with Pal Minnie to a secret hideaway on a snowy mountain top.But one day Pal Mickey looked out his window at the snow on the ground and noticed someone had urinated on it.( sorry ) So Pal Mickey phoned the Disney police, who after hours of investigating, found out it was Pal Pluto who had been naughty, but worse evidence was to follow. It was Pal Minnie's hand writing.

They were still mentioned and had a section of Disney's website last year. When I called Disney to inquire about preordering one the rep was shocked that I even wanted one let alone that they were still mentioned at all online. It was since pulled from the website and long gone before the sites revamp in the fall. I didn't think that they would still work if the technology was abandoned so I didn't opt for the ones offered on ebay.

I remember the posters they had on the bus promoting it. One of my friends remarked that the expression on one of the kids in the picture looked like she just heard Mickey curse a blue streak.

We musn't forget the true reason for Pal Mickey's Demise: his predecessor, Pal Donald-who was so intelligible, most guests ended up wandering lost and afraid-some misunderstanding him and walking right into The Rivers of America, thinking he was suggesting a daring shortcut-Pal Donald held above their heads while wading through the water, barely yielding for the Mark Twain, for fear of ruining his circuitry and making him even harder to understand. After that debacle, Pal Mickey sat on shelves, having any future fun ruined by the duck.

Pal Mickey wasn't around all that long. I've heard he does still work in the parks but he says things that are obsolete about things that don't exist anymore.

Finding Pal Mickey available for purchase now is expensive (my understanding). I sold my v1.0 in excellent used condition, no box, with original clip on eBay like 3 years ago for over $100. I want to say I got more like $150. My sons each have a v1.0 that I picked up for them from an outlet after the v2.0's came out for like $15 each. Total steal! I know they both took their Pal Mickeys to WDW once but they never left our room at Pop. The kids didn't want to carry them and I had my own to carry. So those 2 v1.0's are packed away in mint condition. When I sold mine I offered to sell theirs but both my boys wouldn't hear if it even with the promise of big money. At this point I wouldn't let them sell if they wanted to. With NextGen coming in Pal Mickey takes on a new significance and relevance. If my sons sold their Pal's it would be to ME. LOL!
