Am I Crazy?

OK so most of you know I am but I have no desire to go to Universal. This year's trip includes 10 park days and an off day for DTD and the outlets. I don't think I am missing anything am I wrong? Great Adventure, Dorney Park and Hershey are 1 or 2 short day trips for me to get a roller coaster fix if needed! Keep me in my Disney bubble or should I check myself in somewhere?

I will say the if you really want to shock your system, I suggest a stay at Portofino Bay Resort at UOR. It is noticeably nicer than anything that they have WDW. It is a very nice hotel.

I would def take a day for Uni, Figment!!!! At least for WWoHP, and Jurassic Park and Dr Suess and and and POSIDEN!! You wont regret it, thats for sure. The overall atmosphere IS different, thats for sure, but it was still a lot of fun.

Absolutely the best ride I've ever gone on. I love WDW, but seriously...Journey through the Forbidden Forest was intense and soooooo awesome. And just, the que to get there was awesome. Walking through the castle, the talking pictures, the different classrooms....so neat!

This ride, and the queue, is the gold standard by which all other rides/attractions should be judged.

If we weren't always kind of short on time (at barely 6 days our next trip will be one of our longest in ages,) I'd definitely want to take at least a day and check it out. The other thing that is influencing my choices these days is the fact that my kid is still pretty little and I'd like to wait until he can enjoy more attractions at Universal. I say if you have the time to squeeze it in, go for it. At least then you'll know what you're missing, and can decide if it's worth a repeat trip.

we did two days at universal last summer and they were awesome. we werent sure what to expect, but it turns out it was two days well spent. and this comes from a WDW AP holder. A universal day (or two) would be well worth the trip!!!

I would highly suggest a visit to Universal Orlando. It's nothing like Hersheypark, Dorney Park or Six Flags. In fact, it's like Disneyland. Two amazing parks, three amazing hotels, an entertainment district and more. And to top it all off, the parks and hotels are close (walking distance, but a water-taxi is provided), the parks are well maintained and clean, and the employees are extremely friendly and always willing to help make your day even better.

Plus, a lot of the rides at Universal surpass a lot of things Disney has made, such as Revenge of the Mummy, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Men in Black: Alien Attack, etc. And they've got some more intense rides that will help get your adrenaline going such as The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Dragon Challenge and Hollywood Rip, Ride, RockIt.

Sorry, I probably sound like an ad and a broken record, but I think it's worth it to visit Universal Orlando.

Yes,definitely! We stayed there. The resort is beautiful and the boat ride to the parks is great.

Also, I would go to Universal just to eat and have a few drinks at Margaritaville. Great place.Love it there.

If you don't go to Universal well, at LEAST Islands of Adventure then you're missing out on one of the BEST theme park experiences in Orlando.

Do not be blinkered the WDW is the be all and end all in Theme Parks, because they're slowly being edged out by Universal. (I still love Disney but Uni has the upper hand at the moment)

I dont know that I agree about Uni hedging out WDW, but I do agree, you're missing out on a great themepark. You have no real TIES to WDW, so you're really not cheating on anything and if you're already leaving WDW, you're already bursting that "disney bubble" some people have mentioned.

It's def worth the time. : )

Agreed. If you don't want to go to the actual Universal Studios, at least visit Universal's Islands of Adventure. It is one of the best theme parks in the world (in my opinion).

Mind you, it's been a few years (ok, more than a few ;)) since I've been to Universal Orlando or Great Adventure, but based on my experiences...I wouldn't lump them together. Don't get me wrong, I loved GA as a kid...near my aunt's house and not too far from our summer house, but we always felt Uni was several steps above anything Six Flags. I'd personally spend a day or two at Universal if it fits into your plans, but that's just me. :)

I'm doing 10 full days at Disney in July. Everyone keeps telling me to go to Harry Potter world or whatever but I never read the books or watched the movies so I have no interest! 10 days in my bubble are fine! Maybe I'm crazy too!! :)

Universal Orlando offers a lot more than Harry Potter! It's just one themed "island" at Universal's Islands of Adventure.

Just sayin'!
