I know there is a military discount for tickets, but because you have to present an ID at the gate, we couldn't do something like that as a gift for someone without being present, correct??

(ordering them online specifically, we couldn't be at the gate)

correct. You have to be present for them to at least activate them at the gate. At least that is how it worked for us.

We are always told at WDW they must be activated at a park ticket booth by someone with a miltary ID.Not the gate. At DLR they can activate them at the gate. We have done both.

Correct. They will activate them at the ticket booth by the person with the military ID.

in the fine print it says "Valid military identification will be required for purchase and use." Yes they do enforce this. We even were asked for the kids Id's at DL.

we had to show a military id every time we went in a main gate with the tickets. but again this was DL and it probably depends on CM at the gate.
