Which parks shut-down due to capacity?

As I mentioned in another thread, my mom got passes to Disney through a convention that allow you to go to the parks after 2 PM (sort of like the water park passes, only these are to the 4 parks).

We are going to WDW from 12/29-1/1 and we know from last year that this is a very busy time to go but it is the ONLY time that would work to get all 5 of us in Florida at the same time.

Last year we went to Disney over New Year's and although it was crowded, we were able to get there earlier and we actually didn't mind. Still, I know I've heard of parks closing due to capacity, so it would stand to reason that if we have the after 2 PM passes that we could be in danger of this.

I've heard that EPCOT never closes, is this true? I've actually never had a problem with parks closing (we were passholders from 2002-2007) but I'm very interested to hear peoples thoughts on this.

I KNOW for MK it's very typical for them to stop allowing guests in around 12-1 or so.

As for the other parks, Im not sure, I've never heard of either one of them closing, but that doesn't mean they dont : ) Hope someone can help you better then I...LOL

All parks do have capacity limits and can potentially hit one of the 4 closure phases. That being said, MK is the only one that will commonly hit a phased closure. Epcot has the largest capacity of any of the 4 parks so it hitting a phased closure is rare. If I am not mistaken it has never gone past a phase 2 closure. If you are staying at a Disney resort you will be able to get in all the way to a phase 4 closure which are incredibly rare.

I'm not sure how they do it, exactly, but I do know they allow people who stay in the WDW hotels and those with APs to enter after they stop allowing others in. There are different steps or stages to the closures.

If you are in a WDW hotel, you will be able to enter one park...but you don't get to choose it...and if you leave, you may not get back in. At some point, they just shut down.

You're going for the most busy, jam-packed, horrific week of the year. It is very possible that they'll have some form of closure while you're there. Arriving after two won't be a helper, either.

Epcot will be exceptionally crowded, but is your best bet for crowds.

You couldn't pay me enough to go to those parks after 2 p.m. during Christmas week. Well, you could, but it would have to be a large sum.

Also, I'd give Disney a call to make sure you can use the passes.

Good luck.

I've been there during this time period.

It's a grade a CF. Your best bet is just to go to EPCOT and hope for the best
