Should I buy Gift Cards with my Disney Visa Rewards Cards?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I wanted everyone's opinion on this. I will have quite a few Rewards Dollars on my rewards redemption cards and usually just use those. I was thinking this time If we should buy some Disney Gift Cards with our rewards dollars, or is this too risky if it would get lost? Are we better off as usual keeping everything on our Rewards Redemption Card in such a case it gets lost. I know they can cancel it I think if it does and we can he a replacement while in the parks at the Chase Kiosk in Downtown Disney etc. The perk of the gift cards is I can keep track of the balances on the app for it and they will never expire unlike the redemption cards. Can't make up my mind on this one this trip. Lol. :)

Why would you worry about the risk of losing a gift card? Its the same as losing your credit card. If you are really worried about losing your card, I would be more concerned about how you keep track of your cards in general, not which card you are using.

No not my credit card the rewards redemption card with the rewards dollars loaded on it. And this can happen easily in the parks even if your careful. Happens to the best of us. I am a very OCD careful person and even I have done this before!! :)

I think that getting gift cards is a good idea. That's what I'm doing for my trip. If you can lose a gift card you can just as easily lose a credit card.

I think I worded it wrong not the actual credit card was talking about the rewards redemption card you get loaded with your reward dollars on it. Those can be replaced if lost unlike gift cards. Was not worried about our credit card itself. Thanks though! :)

You might as well just stick with the rewards card. If that is all you need than no need to transfer to gift card. I just transferred all my points to my rewards card, but I also bought gift cards, because my points wouldn't last very long. The points take a while to expire if I am not mistaken.

Once you transfer to the redemption card you have like a year before the redemption card expires and we are not going back to Disney next year. We will be going elsewhere for our vacation so as being worried I would not use everything on the redemption cards while on vacay I was thinking of the gift card option. The actual points are good for at least 5 years but once you redeem them to the card you cannot put your points back. I usually cash out all points just in case and usually we have nothing left but I we did would hate to lose it as once we are back home I don't buy much at the Disney Store etc other than my D23 membership. Guess if I have money left when I get back I can always get some gift cards then. I might just do that. :)

Simple - don't cash out all your points. It takes about 2 minutes to cash out more points if needed over the phone. Add a bit, and then if you start to run out, add more. There is absolutely no need to transfer it all over at once. Heck, you could call up while walking through the store, and the points would be on your card before you made it to the register.

Okay folks heres a slightly different question that kind of goes along with this topic (just stay with me). Can you pre-purchase the Photo Pass+ and CD using your Disney Visa Rewards Redemption Plan? When I spoke with Chase representative they said they didn't think and that sounded a little odd to me.

If I can't purchase the Photo Pass + package using the redemption card, can I use the redemption card to purchase Disney Gift Cards to then use toward the Photo Pass package?

Don't mean to change course on this topic but I figured you folks could help with this answer. Thanks.

Yes you can use the redemption card to buy gift cards. Not sure if you can directly get the photo pass with the redemption card or not but if you can it will give you that option at check out in the payment section. :)
