WDW's Journey into the Imagination With Figment

I personally love the Figment attraction when on my most recent visit. I realized that area you walk through to exited with all of the interactive exhibits have been removed. I know the it doesn't bring the crowds it used too. So I must ask because someone brought it to my attention it could happen. Is there any chance that Figment could be closing, if so would it matter to any of you?

I haven't heard anything about the attraction closing. I would be sad if it did! Sure, it's not the best attraction (in my opinion) but I think it's cute and my nephew would love it.

One Little Spark...
It closed early every night on my last visit (August 2012).

It's just not attracting people.

Perhaps a snarky or annoying Figment isn't what Guests want to see?

I don't know if it is a sign of Figment closing. I believe Journey into Imagination with Figment doesn't have a sponsor though. The other to look at based the on rumor/news forum, Disney doesn't have anything planned for Future World after Test Track in the short term at least according either lee, spirit, or M. Rudolf. That means Disney doesn't any plans of doing anything with current future attractions including closing them down permanently.

What I can say is when I went to Epcot during my last visit to WDW, the attraction wasn't exactly crowded. I was there in Late August/early September. The thing is that attraction has been that way for years.

I may get lambasted for this, but I still enjoy the ride. Yes, I'd be glad if Momma had us take two giant steps back ;), but I like it and would miss it.

I went to pay Figment a couple of times and just walked right on and the people that were seated already must have been waiting for a while, it's been 10 bad years or more now. The fact they haven't closed it already, it's open all year round tells me that Figment is there to stay. Now that they aren't tied down to Kadak they can do anything they want with the pavilion. They bought back the origional Tiki Room and I dont think Disney will settle for Imaginations attendance much longer. Dreamfinder and Figment allong with Imageworks are both kid friendly and could be kid popular. With the way things are going with all these kiddy attractions I am surprised they haven't put Joutney into Imagination into full use already. Now with No sponsor I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some good canes within the next couple of years.

During our last trip in late July/August of this year, Figment and Captain EO were both closing before the rest of the Future World area attractions. This is during some pretty heavy crowds, and there just weren't enough people wanting to ride it, to keep it open all day.

I think Figment is a fantastic character, and he deserves some sort of attraction (no, not a meet and greet) at EPCOT. The current version of Journey Into Imagination obviously isn't ideal, but EPCOT wouldn't feel the same without Figment. I hope he stays.

As far back as 2 years ago it was closing at 7 PM, but then again so did most of futureworld. That is about the time that most folks start heading back to World Showcase to find a spot for Illuminations.

The entire pavilion has been ignored. I suspect that no one that currently works for Disney can muster up enough imagination to actually run a pavilion named Imagination. First there's the new Figment, snotty and disrespectful instead of fun and inspirational. Then you have the empty upstairs spot imaginatively designed to be a large empty room apparently. I guess the object is that you might someday be able to go up there and imagine that something is actually there. And then, of course, is good old Captain Ewwwwwww! I cannot say enough about the inappropriateness of that in Disney. For all intents and purposes the pavilion has been virtually closed for quite a while now.

As much as the imagination now is a sparse, poor imitation of its previous grandeur.... it would be a shame if it closed, we've already lost too many Future World Pavillions!

It's one of those attractions , you either love it or hate it. i have it on our must do list, but if it was closed i would not be disappointed at all. i know that doesn't make sense but it's how it is.

Imagination! would be improved greatly simply by gutting the gift shop, opening the top floor and creating a new 21st Century version of the old Imageworks.

Imageworks is mostly intact upstairs, judging from videos taken by people who have sneaked in.
It wouldn't take much to give it a little bit of glory.

I agree the gift shop needs a face lift, they updated the attraction it self about 3-4 years ago... I agree the new Figment personalty, is rude. I also agree, that we needs some Imagineers to put the Imagination back to Imagination Pavilion. Even Ellen's Universe of Energy had no line you can walk through it's sad... I liked the old Figment better.

I want Dreamfinder and the original attraction back! I like Figment and all, but the original attraction would be awesome. As much as Disney likes to "keep moving forward", I think that a retro-rehab of this attraction would bring in a huge line.

Lots of people are hoping for the return of Dreamfinder. If they want to increase riders, they should tweak the ride and make it something that draws the guests back. Dr. Nigel Channing ( Eric Idle ) has had his time on stage and now it's time for a change. Just think of the merchandising that could come out of the return of Dreamfinder.

figment is one of those rides i would hate to see disney give up because of its cult following. its classic 80s ride with a few updates :)

I'm sorry...am I misunderstanding your post? The current Figment ride isn't anything like the original 80's ride with the exception that you ride in somewhat the same cars. Other than that it is unrecognisable. I might be reading this post wrong or you might be joking. Sorry, if it's either!

I wouldn't want the Immagination ride to close permanently, perhaps close for a refurb. But they would have to refurb with Figment in mind, he's just to cute to cut out of the attraction completely.
