Just got this in my e-mail, not sure if it's already been posted:

Now, See the World and Save Even More…
The successes of the past year are just the beginning. Looking forward, the team is thrilled to be able to provide a sneak peak at two fantastic Member Perks that will become available on Oct 1:

From October 1 through December 31, 2012, Members will be able to purchase a Walt Disney World Premium Annual Pass for just $399 (that's a savings of $300 off the regular price!)*. Premium Annual Passholders enjoy unlimited admission to four Theme Parks, a year's worth of unlimited access to Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks, DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course (greens fees only) and more!

Insider's Tip: A Premium Annual Pass certificate is not activated as a ticket until it is used the first time. So, if you've already purchased an Annual Pass, you can still take advantage of this offer by purchasing it now (between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012), but waiting to activate it until after your current pass has expired. Passes purchased on this offer must be redeemed by December 31, 2013.

October 1 will also mark the launch of a new ongoing Member perk – 10% off merchandise** at all Disney owned and operated merchandise locations at Parks and Resorts at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, Ko Olina, Hawai'i.
Visit dvcmember.com on October 1 for more details!

I saw that too in my email. Good perks. The AP one is really good. Basically the same price as a 7 day with water park and park hopper. That one seems to be temporary though. The money saved on APs for a family of 4 could cover the maint. Fees for the year.

10% of merchandise is huge too. Did we get discounts only at select locations before?

Think for yourselfer
I am DVC, but have spent 8 days at WDW in the past 3 years. I wonder if I am not the only one, and that is where this discount stems from?

Thanks for breaking out the news. I got the email this afternoon, but didn't have a chance to watch the video to learn what the new perks were.

Isn't the discount an "old" perk that was rescinded and is being restored now??

DVC members were offered a $100 discount in previous years. This year, AP prices went up by $50 and the DVC discount went up by $50 as well, for a total discount of $150.

This $300 discount represents another $150 savings off the "regular" discount.

I was referring to the merchandise discount as having been resurrected (which I absolutely did not make clear in my post). ;)

Thanks for doing the math for me--can i assume that even if I have no intentions of ever setting foot in a water park (I can't swim!), the DVC PAP is a better deal than the DVC AP??

Regular AP $574. DVC discount $425 ($149)
Premium AP $699. Normal DVC discount $559 ($140). Special offer $399 ($300)

For the 3 month trial period you will save $25 more buying the premium pass with the DVC discount.

Hmmmmmm, I was going to skip next year's AP at WDW and go out to California instead. Wonder if I should re-think...o_O

Wow, amazing discounts. Like some of you, I do question why they would do this - unless they are having serious trouble getting DVCers in the parks. They already dropped the DVC annual passes to the price of Florida residents, I believe. Now they feel like they need to drop them even more in a promotion? Something is definetly going on there...

For various reasons we haven't been to the parks at WDW in almost 3 years, using our points in CA ,and on a cruise. Both AP, and DVC perks are better at DLR, it seems they are closing the gap on discounts, making the discount perks more common sense with regards to Disney run stores. If it's Disney, you get a discount type of thing. We never got a discount at WOD before, as I recall. That seemed just dumb.
As for going back to FLA and getting the annual pass at $300.00 less, I'm not so sure. They're putting in Carsland that we already have here an hour away. That's not a draw for us. What we want is what every Disney fanboi doesn't want in FLA. More DVC, and in CA.
