How far can non-rider walk in ToT line?

My ToT loving son is begging his non-ToT riding little brother and I to walk through the line with him. As I rode the ride in my less squeamish days, I know that there is an option to walk through a part and then exit, I just do not remember what parts you can walk through! My younger non-riding son is the fearful one so I don't want him to see something that will give him bad dreams or make him afraid of other "Dark" rides in the future but he might enjoy it if it is not Twilight zone-y. Can anyone with experience in leaving the line before riding give the mama a bit of help! THanks !!

My son was always afraid to ride it, so he would wait in line with us right up to the point where they load you in the elevator. You just tell the CM then and they will direct him to the regular elevator, where he can wait for you right where your elevator unloads.

I can confirm that you can walk through the whole line up until the boiler room which is the last part of the ride anyway, and they will take you down a regular elevator to the exit where the riders get off the the ride. I used the chicken exit a few times when I was younger and afraid to go on it!

You go into the library first where you will see (in the dark) a very short "Twilight Zone" with "Rod Serling" explaining the premise of the ride.

You can go through the entire line, all the way up to the elevators and then decide you don't want to do it, after all. :)

Just be aware that the chicken exit involves riding a regular elevator down one floor. For a child who is terrified to get on the ride elevator, the thought of getting into an elevator of any kind in that environment might be too much for them.

I forgot to ask also: DO you know if you see any pre-show movies?

DS6 has been announcing the past few weeks that he is now brave enough to do ToT. Ironically, the part I'm most worried about him 'turning back' at is the library. He'll be nervous up to that point but once the lights go out I'm afraid he'll back down. I mention this because it's a good thing to sort of explain it and prepare kiddos riding for the first time (at least imo). :)

I was about to say the same thing.....hmmmm the irony of getting on an elevator so you dont have to get on an elevator.......priceless

After riding once, and realizing its really not for me, I went through the entire line with the rest of my family. When they went to board the 'malfunctioning' elevator that seems to have some 6th dimension problems, I went on the normal one. If anyone is a Twilight Zone fan (its family tradition to watch the marathons on Holidays in my family), its very cool to see all the little trinkets and props from certain episodes in the library. This was one of the great ride queues built at WDW.

When I was like seven or eight my parents had me walk through with them to do child swap. When my mom went on and my dad and I had to go down the regular elevator, I thought he was tricking my trying to get on the ride. Needless to say I started crying and wanted to just walk back the way I came, haha.
