Hey Everyone!

I'm planning a big trip bringing the entire family from New Zealand over to WDW in Jan 2014.
Its a huge trip for us which is why i've already begun planning.

I've heard that Disney offers an Airline Employee Discount, does anyone have any specifics on this?
I understand that its around a 40% discount, would I be able to use this in Value season? Can I add extras such as dining?

I thought I'd ask here before calling the mouse, I usually get better info here! ;)

Cheers,
- Ben

Yes my husband works for an airline here and gets just over 40% off (my friend's husband works for Disney and says it's about the same as there friends and family discount). We usually book as far in advance as possible but have made last minute changes and we had to either mail or fax a picture of his ID and he had to have it at check in, because they do ask for it, otherwise that's it. There is a dedicated phone number so if you need it just send me a PM and I'll give it to you.

I've never heard of the airline employee discount, only florida residents, Disney (ABC) employees, or Military veterans (US). I would just call directly, they would give you the best info on that. Congrats on your upcoming family trip!! The closest I ever got to New Zealand was when I went to Tahiti/Moorea/Bora Bora for my honeymoon :) oh yeah, and watching Lord of the Rings LOL ...maybe New Zealand someday :)

A piece of advice if you work for an airline especially a really busy tourist destination always ask a hotel, rental car place for airline employee discounts, some of them can be quite good, they get a lot of business from the airlines as crews sometimes have to stay overnight. Learned that from my dad who was also an airline employee.

Make sure you call to book as soon as booking for 2014 opens. They only offer so many rooms with that discount. The popular resorts go quick. I really miss getting that discount.

Do you remeber if it was a package or if it was room only? I will send you a PM.

Hi just wanted to give you an update, I made our ressie for October 2013 with the airline discount and once again it's over 40%. We are so lucky, have to fax my DH's ID tomorrow to ensure the discount.

Thanks for the update! Did you get the resort you wanted?

Good morning antihero, yes we got the resort we wanted, Grand Floridian! But I'm sure during the winter they'll be big discussion on if we should change it or not. In the past I've called during the year to change and it hasn't been a problem, but with free dining you never know. I think hubby is leaning towards somewhere else as he is not happen with the construction but this way I have a savings goal!

Hope I'm not too late! Just registered on this site to give you info.!

I have booked with airline discounts several times. I actually just returned yesterday from a stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge with airline discount. Loved it! Concierge level w/Savannah view for about half off! Have another trip booked next summer with all the kids and grandkids at Saratoga Springs, 2- 2 bedroom villas, about 40% off. Keep in mind the percentage is off rack rates, not the price you may see online.

I talked to a Disney employee this trip who said sometimes the airline rates are actually better than the employees rates!

I don't know what the formula is when the airline rate dates come out. I read on another blog that they usually come out around mid summer for the next year. Airline rates for 2013 came out early August, 2012. I booked our June, 2013 trip the day after the rates came out. But, lucked out and had just booked my AKL room 6 months ago. Number to call is (407) 828-3111. It is for interliners only. You must fax or email (ask agent for email address) a copy of your airline (or retiree) badge within 48 hours, or res will cancel. You are allowed 2 rooms at airline rate.

BTW, I booked DW transportation from the airport (free), and received a voucher with no confirmed times. Since we didn't know what flight we would make on standby, we didn't give a flight # or time of arrival or departure. Was not a problem. Just go to the Disney welcome area and they'll put you on a bus whenever you get there (before 10pm)!

I would just call the interline number frequently so you can book with the discount as soon as they come out. There are limited rooms available. I believe you can book at a current rate and make changes (rebook to lower rate) as long as you haven't made final payment. (Don't quote me on this, but believe that was what I was told)!

With flight benefits, had the chance to travel to New Zealand a couple of years ago. Loved it! Beautiful and everyone was so friendly!

Good luck and enjoy WDW!

I agree with Linda, my friend (who's hubby works for Disney) said the same thing. I usually book as soon as they come out as well. It's nice to see the airline employees get this benefit, I know my darling husband works so hard.

We usually fly jet blue because it has alot of flights back and forth from Boston, I need to get my son on the plane and then off so with what I save on one thing I splurge on another like a direct flight when I need it. Buttttt now that he is getting bigger and not so nervous flying I may just have to try and fly on DH's airline.

I don't know anything about that discount, but I just wanted to say that I was lucky enough to visit your country (the north island) for a week in 1993 after I took the Bar Exam after law school, and it was simply beautiful. And the people were so nice. What a trip.

Last year, I booked Animal Kingdom Lodge at about 40% off with airline discount for August, 2013. Interline phone is (407) 828-3111. You must fax copy of airline badge, or ask for email address to send copy. However, when I called this spring to book another trip, Disney told me the airline discount for WDW resorts was discontinued. Agent told me their promotional rates were similar to airline, so they would no longer offer interline rates. (I disagree. Airline rates were always better than any promotion). Disney told me they still offer interline cruise rates. They never did offer discounts on meals, as far as I know. They have a meal plan, or, you can get discounts with annual passes.

When you call, would love to hear if you still get an interline rate.

BTW, loved New Zealand!
