I have been to wdw over 20 times this year but I have ate at California Grill. I will be there in two weeks and I want recommendations for food, also I do not eat sushi.

I was just there in May, and the CG was our favorite restaurant. We got the Triple Cheese flatbread, which was one of the best tasting dishes we got the entire trip. The Garden Tomato salad was a nice second course, and is light and refreshing. My entree was the Lamb Chops, which were cooked to perfection, and my wife got the Filet, which was heavenly. And if you love chocolate, you have to get the Valrhona Chocolate Cake!

It is a family tradition that we eat there the last night of every trip. As stated above the 3 cheese flat bread is good, I also enjoy the salami flatbread as well. The hearts of Romaine salad is always on the menu and I always order. For the main course my son and I rotate between the filet of beef, pork tenderloin or Bison, if it’s on the menu. My dear wife is more adventurous and enjoys sushi and has enjoyed the seared ahi tuna; I however prefer my fish cooked through.

The desserts are always changing as is the cheese board but we usually order it after dessert.

If you have never dined there before you really should watch wishes from the roof of the Contemporary, even if you dine early save the receipt as I believe they will let you go back up to watch, at least I hope that they still do this.

Enjoy!

I'm trying it for the first time in 2 weeks as well!

I am debating between the pork tenderloin and the filet. But with filet at le cellier, steak at Ohana, beef short ribs at Sanaa and possible filet at Narcoosses - I'm afraid I'll be steak-ed out!

Their filet was the nicest was had all holiday last May, beat Yachtsman hands down. Better, more friendly atmosphere too. I had plannred to have bison this year but sadly it was not on the menu.

Our experience at Yachtsman was miles ahead of Cali 2 years ago! But we hope to try it again in the future

Kimshee Flatbread... skip it, it was ok.

Columbia River Salmon was one of the best plated dishes I've ever had, and I've been to a lot of great restaurants

Food at the Yachtsman was excellent in 2011, poor in 2012. We find it a little stuffy though, not a holiday atmosphere. Just personal choice I suppose, I wouldn't choose to stay at Yacht & Beach at all, although the bars are nice.

I would stay at the Beach club but hang at the bars at The Yacht club :D

Our visit to Cali Grill was very disappointing and sub par, Yachtsman blew it away for us but we will go again maybe next time post refurb!

I have had, or have tried, a number of dishes at CG. The only one that I recall disappointing was in fact the filet mignon. The meat itself was not bad, but it was sauced with a salt shaker. Red demi glace or wine reduction or whatever it came with (I forget) was horribly salty. In retrospect it was most likely a kitchen error and I should have sent it back, but I did not.

If find their sushi to be a bit too much on the "trendy" side for me. More concerned with what is popular and in, as opposed to what showcases the fish and rice the best. Rolls loaded with mayonaise based sauces, avacado, or "spicy (day old) tuna" don't appeal to me. Fresh, high quality fish, served so you can taste it what I like. California Gill Sushi is "California Style sushi" - much like California Pizza is to Pizza. However the tuna three ways was very nice (again in my opinion)

I have had pork, beef, bison, fish, and pasta there, in a variety of ways - as I said, all was very good, except for that one beef dish.
