Was surfing around on Flickr looking at pictures and saw this. At first I was like "Hmm that must be something from overseas" and then I saw that it was captioned as being Epcot. I am having one of those "huh?" moments because I have absolutely no recollection of this. I see the Communicore/Innoventions building behind him (1994 was when the transition to Innoventions began) but I can't place what this was from. Anyone want to give me a clue?

This is where my 10 year "break" in Disney trips shows itself... I had no idea this ever existed. That dino head looks awfully familiar though. Anyone know if it was made from the same "mold" as the T-Rex in UoE?

I just read up a little about this show and it's funny how incredibly similar (storyline wise) to Fantasmic! it was. I suppose it was probably a precursor to it. Good stuff! It's kind of funny because I pride myself on knowing about this stuff (I run a site about Extinct Disney after all) and had no idea this show ever existed!

A full Night rehersal show of Splashtacular..It appears mostly in the second half of this video.

It was also used in a show in MK playing as Elvis called Galaxy Search. It now sits behind a bunch of Trailers on property frozen in a pose.

He's actually still on property. His carcass is rotting outside of ride and show engineering's building behind the MK.

Yep he's in the center sitting in a small garden..

Found this great article from when they killed the show... http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1994-06-30/business/9406300870_1_epcot-fantasmic-water

Funny that a Disney Exec was quoted as saying the reason was because it didn't fit the theme of Innoventions. What did?? *sigh*

I'm even more wow'd by this now that I know it's the reason there's that annoying stage around the fountain. Love learning new things I didn't know about WDW!

Just read this same article!

Am I seeing this right? I know if you go up World Drive and try to make a left into the backstage area of MK (road behind FLE) there is a gate that you can't get past without being authorized but... am I see it right that there is no such gate that prevents you from getting back into the facilities and engineering area? I'm not asking because I'm going to drive back there to grab a picture of Robo Dino or anything I swear.

General public aren't physically stopped from driving around a lot of the North Service Area ;)

Btw, the Dino dates from late 93 when Splashtacular began. Love what that exec said. Idiot.
