Disney Armed Forces Salute.....will it continue?

In September 2012 the Disney Armed Forces Salute is scheduled to be done. Hopefully, Disney will once again offer a great deal for military families to enjoy Disney vacations. There is a Facebook page titled "Save The Disney Armed Forces Salute" that is asking everyone that supports this to contact guest communications, the Parks, or upper Management to express your feelings. I can speak from experience that having the military ticket deals really helps out military families just like mine. There's no way we could have afforded our trips last summer without it. Thanks!

At present the Disney Military Salute will end on 30 Sept. I have read online / Facebook -page Steve's Disney Military Tips - that something new is being worked on. There could be an announcement by Disney at end of July or early August. Shades of Green at WDW is also waiting on Disney's next move.

As long as men and women of the United States armed forces are sent into harms way and continue to defend and serve, The Military Salute and any other program to help return a little gratitude should remain in place. Not forced to do it in any way, but strongly encouraged to do so. It's the least they can do.

And for all of the active duty and retired military men and women, I thank you for your service. God bless all of you.

I really hope it's continued. I've utilized it for both WDW and DLR over the past few years, and without a doubt it has come in handy. I'm banking on it staying in place, as I've planned a large extended family trip in December and have already booked 3 rooms at Shades of Green. I let everyone know ahead of time though that I might not be able to purchase them discounted tickets, just in case. Nevertheless, the deal would really come in handy for my wife and I who will be flying from San Diego to Orlando and are fronting the cost for two other folks in our group.

Luckily I was able to use my AMEX points for airfare for both of us, saving around $800, but I'm counting on the Armed Forces Salute to be there so we don't have to shift a bunch of money out of savings. We're still going no matter what, but it might impact other people in our group's decision.

I'll be happy as long as they keep the resort and meal plan discount. For a family of 5 that's a HUGE help! I'll pay full price for tickets if I have to. Disney has always been good to us. The majority of amusement parks are!

According to Military Disney Tips website and the Save The Disney Armed Forces Salute Facebook page, the Armed Forces Salute appears to have been renewed for the 2012-13 season, starting 1 October 2012 and running through 30 September 2013.

Appears to be a $20 increase across the board for the package plans - Four-Day Park Hopper Tickets or Four-Day Water Park and More Tickets for $156 and Four-Day Park Hopper Tickets plus the Water Park and More Option for $184. Still, a very economical option.

Here's links to the announcement and FAQ.

The new military salute package has not been officially announced but will be in the coming week ...
