Cast Members with Green Brazil Shirts

I tried searching so forgive me if this has been posted. Just got back and I noticed in both Animal Kingdom and Epcot, Disney Cast Members wearing green Brazilian shirts. Is this something new? Are they liaisons for the tours? The two I saw at AK were working on the Safari and not in the typical Safari gear.

They are really Brazilian guest services, they are brought in especially for the summer season as Portuguese speakers, many of them are on the college program and are located at various locations to assist with the Brazilian tour groups.

Are they paid by Disney or Brazilian tours operators?

If Disney is footing the bill you would think that they would also impart upon the groups some manners.

Well they don't handle the groups they just are there to assist the groups if they have any questions

Yes, just like how English Speakers are taught proper theme park etiquette.

I'm sure patronizing people is high on the priority list.

Most of the Brazillians are 15 years old, everyone's an idiot when they are 15 years old. Yes, large groups of 15 year olds suck, but Disney has increased the numbers of these Portuguese-speaking Cast Members significantly this year, and it has helped tremendously.

Yup, take a look at the people visiting from our very own country before you start demanding others be taught "proper etiquette." The worst groups I've seen were cheerleaders/dancers all of whom were English speaking, how 'bout that??

So now you are now condoning the actions of the Brazilian tour groups?

No, but quite lovely of you to put words in my mouth.

If you're going to demand one group of people "learn proper etiquette" you better take a look around and realize the majority of the people in the parks at any given time are inconsiderate self centered tourists. American, Brazilian or otherwise.

Wasn't it though!
Some people have a hard time with the English language.

At least I can express my displease with the self-centered Americans and they can comprehend what I mean.

having been through the tour groups and the cheerleaders I think they are equally annoying. While I have seen many acts of kindness from all groups at the parks. Chanting ANYTHING over and over in a screaming tone is the MOST annoying thing you can do. I have seen both groups do it. repeatedly. you just have to try to ignore it and be kind to others.

Congrats? That has nothing to do with my point that most tourists are as much in need of "theme park etiquette" as Brazilians may be.

WDW doesn't need Brazilian CM's. It only need large signs that read 'No loud noises. No organised chanting, clapping and dance routines'.

Then you enforce that. Hey, it works in cinemas and theaters and swimming pools too.

Within a season, the multi-million dollar tour operating companies will have learned that America is not the place where you send teenagers to scream and act as loud and goofy in public as they want to. And they'll take the brats elsewhere - surely some Brazilian beach resort might appreciate this sort of disruptive tourism.

Thank you, both. It's nice every now and again to see that not everyone here is xenophobic.

The real responsibility lies with the adults in charge of supervising the tours or any large group. I have noticed that several of the adults who are videotaping the tours, most likely for promotional purposes, are encouraging the chanting, laughing, screaming etc as a way to advertise to young adults. "Come have the time of your life! Sing and dance and have fun."
