Something just occurred to me...expansion?

In thinking about another thread that has gotten very heated regarding DVC monies coming in and the perceived lack of improvements in the parks something occurred to me. Many people seem to think (myself included) that there are areas of the parks that could benefit from expansion or improvements but has anyone noticed that with the added lodgings of DVC expansions that TDO has done little to nothing to add new dining experiences? I wonder how much of the difficulty in getting ADR's could be alleviated by new dining being added. My one big gripe is that at 180 days out from arrival I have difficulty in getting dining reservations. Now I would hazard a guess that if any one of us tried to make dinner reservations in our home towns that if we were told "sorry we are booked for the next six months" that we would simply go elsewhere but for some reason we have come to accept this as being normal for Disney. Other than the new restaurant in FLE I cannot remember any real large dining venues being added. I do not know if this is an answer or not but thought I would throw it out there for discussion.

Okay, in the last 4 years we have had;

La Hacienda San Angel
Expanded Cantina San Angel
T-Rex Cafe
Via Napoli

And soon we will have Be our Guest

That is 1 per year for 5 years!

Sounds good to me!

Not too bad BUT remember all of the DVC capacity being added and now AOA being brought online. Your point is well taken but I still think the balance is off for the long term. I don't know what the answer is but the whole six months out and not getting half of the ADR's we would like to get is getting crazy IMO.

New
bigger, not new
DTD
New

And Be our Guest is New. So 3 out of 5 years and maybe 1,000+ more seats in the parks for dinning.

I agree with the OP that they need to increase the amount of dinning, adding more to DTD is nice but I don't want to take a bus out of one of the gates to get dinner and take a bus back in.

Oh and there is

Paradiso 37

Plus La Cava and Tutto Gusto and there is an expansion to BoulangerIe PatIsserie coming soon!

I would say dining is one area that has been focused on!

You do realize that all those restaurants were built and paid for by other companies other than Disney.

Be Our Guest will be the first new Disney (owned) restaurant in how many years?

Really i can see how people complain on lack of expansions to parks! But, dining??? Seriously??

The amount of options is staggering!!

Without a doubt this is one area you should not be worried about!

I'm not really concerned about expansion in dining. It would be nice if some of the still-functional restaurants that currently sit empty (like Ariel's at the Beach Club or Bonfamille's Café at French Quarter) would be reopened, though.

Perhaps I'm missing something. What about all of the mentions at Epcot?

An extra 600+ seats at epcot is great, but it would be better that they add like a 300 more seats every other year or so instead of keeping capacity the same for more than a decade and a half.

Some countries can only have two TS or one, at that point you look at what else you can do. I am not suggesting making a copy of cosmic rays and putting it next to m:s, but look at where there are opportunities to grow. For m:s, why not add a restaurant that uses science like wd~50? Keep the princess in norway, but have a restaurant that offers actual nordic food. Rebuild the corporate lounge to have seating for guests on the roof, area during the day to eat and a place at night for the show.

Why not have a tour boat / meal ride around the lagoon, to dhs, and back?

Asking for alot really! Parks need to expand before this happens
