How do you rate here for a QS. Looking at the 3 bays [ not 3 bears ] In bay 1 they serve 1/2 chicken & BBQ Rib combo[still cannot believe that's 1 credit] with mash potato and veg for $14.19. That's a lot of food for one person surely?
Cosmic Ray's has become a must for us when in the Magic Kingdom. We love Sonny too!
Ok,excuse my lack of know how,but who or what is Sonny Eclipse?

One good change now at Cosmic Ray's is that you must be eating lunch in order to get a seat in the Lounge area; you can no longer walk in from outside just to catch his show. There are hosts and hostesses to secure a table for you and your party. We were just there in April, so don't know how long this has been in effect.

Sonny Eclipse is an audio-animatronic singer who plays an astro-organ found exclusively in Walt Disney World. More specifically, he is found in the restaurant Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom. He provides jazz music for the guests in the Starlight Lounge while they eat. His whole audio loop is roughly 25 minutes. [1][2]

Sonny Eclipse is an animatronic alien that "performs" a lounge act during your meal.
We have eaten at Cosmic Rays twice. Both times it was a mad house. To the point where I was standing there with trays of food and could not find a table. The layout with 3 bays can be very inconvenient if your family wants things from different bays. This can require you to wait in line three times!
Frankly, the most recent trip was a nightmare. If we ever go there again, it's because something has gone horribly wrong.
I did try the chicken and ribs combo. It was okay. Great bang for the buck on the meal plan. The food was decent, but nothing exceptional. The rest of my family was less impressed with the food. My wife had a chocolate cake that was very clearly freezer burned.
I know a lot of people around here love Cosmic Rays. They do have a nice fixin's bar. But I will never go back into that place during a regular meal time. It's not worth it.
When we were there in 2010, there were cms stationed to keep people from taking a seat to watch the show. But they would not assist you in finding a table at all. We had 2 little kids, a double stroller and trays of food. And they just stared at us.
Other less encumbered parties were able to zoom in and snatch tables the second they opened up. We finally just stood near a cluster of tables waiting for someone to finish their meal.
Sounds like your last experience was not a good one and in years past we have had trouble too. On this trip when a party w/food reached the entry of the lounge (queue forms here), there was a hostess with a head mike and a corresponding host (with head mike) in the lounge locating available tables. Seating for guests seemed to be a lot faster and more efficient. This system seemed to prevent small parties from commandeering large tables and camping out.
