I was watching one of my favorite movies today "The Rocketeer" and kind of had a brain storm.....what about using the Rocketeer in this attraction...it would make a great storyline..easy to follow and would have great effects.

Doesn't the Rocketeer deal with Nazis?

I don't really think Soarin needs a character to go with it. It seems that the Cali one is very successful without characters.

I would love to see Soaring having some type of theme and maybe some type of good way to cut between scenes. But the main problem is "The Rocketeer" was a great movie to about 15 of us. Disney will do nothing with a movie unless it is a money maker....they are still kicking themselves for redoing the treehouse here in DL j/k. But really Disney will do nothing unless they make some money as a tie in and there is nothing wrong with that.

Soarin' is on track for opening in 2005.

As for the Rocketeer...
Never happen. Yeah, it's a cool movie, but it was far from a hit.
Back when they had the diner that was shaped like a dog on the backlot tour, most people had no idea what it was. Props and stuff from the film sat unsold in Sid's for years.

Anyhow, Soarin' will open with a theme of...flight. That's all.

Oh well, just an idea. Sometimes I have good ones and sometimes its just a brain fart...lol. I love the movie and Jennifer Connoley :hammer: be great if Disney did some type of re-release like they do with all the other movies. Thanks for the input my friends.

Hey, everybody!

WDW already has a Rocketeer themed attraction... only it's at the Studios, and it's more of an outdoor-vending type deal.

Peevy's!!! I think the full name is Peevy's Frozen Concoctions, or something like that. They sell frozen slush drinks (Coke, Blueberry, and Cherry). There's a rocket pack prop behind the cash register. Is the helmet there, too? Can't remember at the moment.

Good news! You at least get a little Rocketeer at Soarin'. The theme! I was standing in line, and I could swear it was the Rocketeer theme. Came home and YouTubed it, and I was right. They recycled the theme into the Soarin' ride. Just a fun fact.

There is still a nod to The Rocketeer at DHS at Peevy's Polar Pipeline Just look to the left and right sides of the interior..
