Talking through Attractions

Ever get in a boat "Its a Small World" or "Pirates of the Caribbean" have the family loudly (they always seem to speak loud) talking in Portuguese all the way though the attraction.

Are they being rude?

Everybody else on the boat does not understand the language and the want to enjoy the attraction? At least I do.

Is there a way to tell them to please be quiet?
Seems like I only get dirty looks, maybe a mind you own business.

I have no issues telling anyone to be quiet on attractions. Whether thy're speking English, Spanish... any language. You don't speak loudly through something others are trying to enjoy, period. We had a girl who looked to be in her late teens, early 20s talking the whole way through the American Adventure. I was 4 seats away from her and could hear her clear as day. I leaned over several times to tell her to shush but to no avail. As we were walking out her friend was like "you really should have been quiet"

There is nothing that needs to be said during an attraction that can't wait until after. However, if you need to talk, talk quietly. I'm sure most everyone feels the sme way.

The first time I took my kids to Disney, we rode It's a Small World, we sat in front, two women behind us spent the ENTIRE ride complaining about people at their work. It was SO UNBELIEVABLY ANNOYING. They were doing this in line, and I didn't think much of it, but it continued the whole time. I tried to give them looks, and I wanted to say something, but my wife didn't want me to, so I didn't. It was awful.

I'm not sure what was worse, that, or the time I was sitting next to this group of people on soarin who screemed, "ooooohhhh ha ha ha...woooo...he he he" for the entire ride. (that group was foreign)

I was on ToT and being the only person not a part of a Brazillian Tour group elevator I can say I'm not sure I survived or for that matter what happend that fateful night on Oct 31st 1939..I just heard the entire group clapping and yelling "HOT PEANUT!" or something along the lines..It was bad..

Last year I was in the Simpsons ride. I too ended up with a car with just me and with what felt like fifty Brazilians. (I swear they mulitplied on the spot)

It was like a trip through all the layers of Dante's Inferno.

Let's say I much prefer other guests to be quiet.

I absolutely hate it when other guests, or I should say adults, talk throughout any attraction, and I would not wait one second to make sure they know my displeasure. I have never once had anyone say anything back to me when I asked them, in only a way Jimmy could ask them, to mind their manners while I enjoy my vacation.

Children get a free pass, anyone that looks older than 15 faces the ire of the Jimmy.

Jimmy Thick-Its easy to be "tough" sitting behind a computer monitor. Not in person though, I assure you.:ROFLOL:

Depending on who I'm with, I'll 'whisper' sometime through rides. Can't say I've ever ran my mouth through an entire ride but I'm sure it's not vacation ruining. My mom and aunt used to do this a lot, so I wouldn't be surprised if one of the post in this thread is about them.

I hate it when you get on a ride or attraction and a person feels they must loudly proclaim they have ridden/seen it several times. They then recite the dialogue... very loudly along with the narration. Uggghh shut the crap up! We don't want to hear you do a poor impersonation of the ride!! I had this on SSE once. They were louder then ole Judy!!

ok even though I have been on the rides a numerous number of times...I go on them to enjoy them and listen to the music and the story of the ride. I might sing softly along with the ride but never do I talk during the ride. I cant stand it. Dont go on the ride if your not going to pay attention to what is going on around u! It is soo annoying!! I once had a lady tell me to stop talking when I was walking in line waiting to go on. Im sorry but the line is for talking so you say what you have to say before you go on the ride. I knew she was having a bad day cause her kids were crying and she was arguing with her husband. I guess I was in the wrong place that time..:p

Actually now that I think about it, this happened last week. These teens were on IASW running their mouths and this one girl was like, 'Why do people ride this?' I'm thinking well why are you on it haha.

First off- Yes.

While I don't think it's intended to be rude (at least in most cases), I think the people behaving this way are often ignorant to what's considered rude. I mean- sure they may be trying to have fun and enhance the experience as a pp noted, but it's inappropriate if it's disrupting others. The Cirque example from a pp is horrible. I have only seen Cirque in Vegas, but if anyone in the audience were that disruptive- I would have demanded a refund or insist that every last one of them be removed from the theater. It's bad enough when you can't keep quiet on a ride, but behaving that way in a theater is pathetic. Having performed with professional groups for a number of years- some performers and maestros would stop the show and demand your silence or removal before they'd resume...and it was usually for much lesser infractions.

I mean, nobody is perfect...we've probably had to shhh our own friends, kids, parents:lookaroun, etc. at some point...but to constantly behave this way and act like the person you're disturbing is the one in the wrong is appalling. I swear- some people need a course on common decency before going on vacay (or getting on the road, or going to the movies, etc.).

About two years ago, I had a woman sit in front of me on the backlot tour tram and proceed to talk on her cell phone the whole time. Because there is a CM speaking on the tram she made sure to talk as loud as possible so her friend could hear her over the CM.

It was so rude and she didn't seem to care about the looks she was getting.

i hate that so much when people talk during the ride!

really i just tell them to shut up (politely, of course. i'm not so forward like that) and honestly they can give me all the dirty looks they want. i'm trying to enjoy my ride experience, they can take their drama somewhere else.

this! the shows are worse, it's almost as if people wait until the show starts to begin a discussion about the randomest things!

That's when Disney should have stepped in and asked her to get off her phone or exit the ride!
